This story is set 3 years after the last chapter of deathly hallows entitled "19 Years Later", so it's basically 22 years after Deathly Hallows.

It was pouring outside. Rain was beating on the ground, and Harry Potter was soaked. He sat out in the rain, crying painful tears. How could this be happening to him? He was supposed to be in love with Ginny! They had three bloody kids, for Heaven's sakes! They were supposed to be a huge, happy family! Harry Potter was not supposed to be in love with Hermione Granger. He was not supposed to love his best friend. He couldn't, he just couldn't. He was supposed to fall in love with pretty, cute freckled-faced Ginny, not bookworm, beautiful, always-saves-his-arse Hermione. But he didn't love Ginny. He had always loved Hermione. She was the one that had always been there for him, whether he noticed it or not. He wouldn't trade her friendship for anything, but was he ready to try and put it on the line for something more? Suddenly a soft voice broke through his thoughts.

"Harry? Harry, are you alright?", came Hermione's voice. Harry was suddenly full of anxiety and anger.

"Of course I'm not alright!", Harry barked. Hermione jumped a little as he snapped at her. Harry noticed the quick flash of fear in her eyes. He calmed down.

"Hermione, this isn't supposed to happen. It can't be this way", Harry murmured. Hermione's eyes softened. She held his face in her hands.

"Why not, Harry? Why can't it be this way? You know I love you, too," Hermione whispered. More tears ran down Harry's face.

"But you're not supposed to love me! You're supposed to love Ron!", He whimpered. Hermione sighed.

"Let's get you inside," she said. Hermione grabbed Harry's arm and helped him to his feet. They walked back into the home in which Hermione shared with Ron and their children. Ron had taken the children to visit his mother.

"I'll fix you some tea," Hermione said sweetly.

"No. I mean...no thank you. I don't want any," Harry replied a little too quickly. Hermione only smiled and sat down next to Harry.

"Harry, it's all right. It's the truth, it's what is real, what is right, Don't worry, Harry," Hermione whispered softly.

Harry looked into her assuring eyes. He loved her so much. And she loved him. No matter how everything turned out, they would always have one another. It was then that Harry pulled Hermione into a sweet kiss. She melted against him and kissed him back.Harry ran his fingers through her wavy hair and whispered how much he loved her.

It was pouring outside. Rain was beating on the ground. And Harry Potter was better than he had ever been.
