A/N: So here's the first chapter of my new D/G story. Haha, I know you guys are all excited. Sorry it took me a while to get this up. I haven't written much so I really need to write more of it. I swear this story is going to be amazing.
So enjoy the first chapter and don't forget to leave me a review !!
Graduation Day:
Draco & Ginny In The Astronomy Tower
Ginny Weasley sprinted up dozens of flights of stairs, panting heavily. She couldn't be late, she wouldn't be late. Why did she miss her Astronomy final? If she hadn't, she wouldn't be spending the trio's graduation day stuck in the Astronomy Tower.
Ginny reached the top of the stairs and stopped for a moment, catching her breath. Ginny leaned on her knees, her flaming red hair falling into her face. She brushed back her hair and walked slowly towards the Astronomy Tower. Pulling the door open, she realized that Professor McGonagall was waiting for her. Ginny bit her lip, realizing that she was about ten minutes later.
"You're late, Weasley," Professor McGonagall told her sternly. Ginny gave her a sheepish look.
"I was doing some last minute studying," Ginny lied. She had actually been helping Hermione get ready for the graduation ceremony. She still couldn't believe she was missing the ceremony for a stupid final exam.
"You're all set up," Professor McGonagall said, "The door can't be opened from the inside, so I'll leave it a bit open in case. You have three hours." Ginny nodded absentmindedly. This was going to be a three hours of her life she was never going to get back.
"Okay, thanks," Ginny murmured, stepping towards her telescope. She rummaged through the thick final exam and found the written portion. It wasn't nearly dark enough outside, so Ginny decided to do the written first.
"I'm going to be going now. The graduation ceremony is going to start in ten more minutes. Remember, I'm leaving the door partially open in case you need anything or finish the exam early. If you close it, I'm afraid there will be no way to reopen it," Professor McGonagall repeated. Ginny nodded again, picking up her quill. Maybe she could finish the exam a bit earlier…
Professor McGonagall left and Ginny was left alone in the tower. She sat down and began scribbling furiously.
"The faster I write, the faster I finish," Ginny told herself aloud, her hand starting to feel numb. She dipped her quill in the ink again and continued to write.
"Weasel."
Ginny drew a black line across her paper as she looked up in surprise. Draco Malfoy stood at the entrance of the Astronomy Tower. His blonde hair was shabby and covered part of his cold gray eyes. Ginny bit her lip, trying to tear her gaze from Draco's tall, muscular figure.
"Malfoy," Ginny answered smoothly, placing her quill on the desk. Draco was dressed in long dress robes that resembled a Muggle tuxedo. His hair was neatly combed and a bowtie was tied on top of the robes. "Interesting outfit you've got there. I've never seen you so dressed up."
He glared at her slightly. "It's graduation," he drawled. His voice was deep and sent shockwaves up Ginny's spine. He moved in a bit more, and the door began to creak closed.
"Don't shut-" Ginny started. The door swung shut. "-The door."
Draco turned around and yanked on the door calmly. It didn't budge. He muttered a few spells under his breath, green light shooting out of his wand, but the door remained shut. He swore loudly and turned around.
"I forgot Parkinson's quill in here," he muttered, "Being the prat she is, she wouldn't get it herself." He continued to speak quietly to himself as he crossed the room and picked up a bright pink-feathered quill. Ginny gave him an odd look.
"You do realize you can't get out, right?" Ginny asked him cautiously. Draco turned around and gave her a look.
"Obviously."
"Then why aren't you the slightest bit panicked? You're going to miss your graduation ceremony."
Draco sneered and gave Ginny his trademark smirk. "I'd rather be in here than out there, which is not much better." He sat down in the chair next to Ginny's. Ginny stiffened slightly, feeling uncomfortable.
"Is it because you love spending time with people smarter than you?" Ginny asked sarcastically. Draco smirked and let out a fake laugh.
"Hilarious, Weasel. No, my father happens to be at the graduation ceremony, and I'm not exactly prepared to see him." Draco took off his black bowtie and tossed it on the desk.
Ginny couldn't help but wonder why on Earth Malfoy was speaking to her. In the past six years, he had done nothing but shoot her snide remarks when they passed each other in the hallway. Now, he was sitting next to her? Draco must have figured out what Ginny was thinking, for he said, "Just because I'm speaking to you doesn't make you any less of a blood traitor. It's not like there's anyone else in this room I can speak with."
"You're definitely not any less of a ferret," Ginny breathed just loud enough for Draco to hear. She shot him a glare.
"Was that supposed to be an insult, Weasel?" He laughed softly, mocking her. Ginny bit her lip and turned back to her exam paper. "What's that you've got there?"
Ginny sighed. "My astronomy exam. And why don't you want to talk to your father?" She began writing her answer for the eleventh question on the exam. She looked up and saw Draco giving her a suspicious look.
"Why do you ask?"
Ginny shrugged. "Just curious."
Draco looked at her. "If I tell you," he began in a threatening voice, "You can't tell anyone, you understand? If you tell a soul, you will have to answer to not only me, but my father." Draco's gaze was threatening and terrifying. Ginny wasn't even sure if she wanted to know anymore, but she nodded anyways.
Draco took a deep breath. "My father wants me to join the Dark Lord. Honestly, I'm not interested, but he just won't let it go. You don't know my father; he'd force me into something like this if he had a chance."
He looked away, not understanding why exactly he had told Ginny this. Ginny bit her lip, not sure what she was allowed to say. She didn't want Draco to be angry with her, but not saying anything would be even more awkward. Quietly, she muttered, "I'm not really interested in celebrating for Ron. I'm kind of glad I missed the ceremony as well. I don't want to watch Ron and Harry drool over Hermione."
Draco looked at her, the color returning to his face. He put on his typical smirk. "Jealous, Weasel?"
Ginny scoffed. She found it rather amusing that he thought she was still pining for Harry. In reality, she was way over him. Now, she thought of him as nothing more than a friend. "You wish," Ginny sneered. She took a seat and glanced back at her Astronomy Exam, realizing that she was only about fifty percent done. She wrote a bit more and then glanced back at Draco, who was staring at her with disbelief.
"Are you telling me that you're over Scarhead?" Draco's jaw hung open and he looked genuinely surprised. Ginny rolled her eyes.
"I am over him," she answered, her voice assuring, "But what is it to you?" Curiosity lingered in her tone. Draco gave her a look.
"Never thought you'd be able to get over such a wonderful person," Draco responded sarcastically. With that, the subject of Harry and Ginny was dropped. Ginny cleared her throat.
"So what are you plans after grad?" Ginny asked him conversationally. Draco shrugged, sitting down on the empty chair.
"Since there's no way I'm joining the Dark Lord, I'm interested in being a Healer," Draco answered. Ginny held back a laugh. Draco Malfoy, saving lives? For some reason, Ginny couldn't quite picture it.
"What?" Draco demanded, "You don't think I'm good enough?" Ginny shook her head vigorously, still trying very hard not to laugh.
"I just…" Ginny burst out in laughter. Draco gave her an irritated look as she continued to laugh loudly. "Sorry, sorry… you'd make a great Healer." Ginny held her breath, hoping she wouldn't laugh again.
"The truth is," Draco told her thoughtfully, "I want something with a lot of power. Being a Healer is only my second choice. I'd much rather like to be the Minister or something."
"We don't want the wizarding world to be corrupted," Ginny teased. Draco chuckled slightly. He seemed to have forgotten whom he was talking to. Ginny looked up at him and they shared a moment of silence. Ginny quickly looked back to her exam, realizing she didn't have much time left.
"So," Draco smirked, "Where's my graduation present?"
Ginny felt unable to breathe. She glanced up at Draco, her heart hammering. "I uh don't have one," she stammered. Draco gave her a look.
"There's always something you can give me. I have to make the best out of my graduation, Weasel."
"I'm trying to take my Astronomy exam," Ginny gritted through her teeth. Draco refused to drop the subject, still smirking.
"Where's my present?" he repeated, staring at her. "I mean, if you're really over Potty, you shouldn't have any problem. Unless you're still madly in love with him and can't get over him?" His voice was dropping with disgust.
Ginny shot him a glare, her heart thumping madly. What was Draco doing with her? She was a Gryffindor! Had he forgotten that already? She chose to ignore him again, glancing down at her exam. To her dismay, she had just finished her last problem. She looked up at Draco and found him smirking.
"So you're not over Potty." Draco glanced at her. Ginny's jaw dropped.
"I am over him," she snarled, "I just don't kiss conceited prats."
"Good thing you can't kiss yourself," Draco muttered, just loud enough for Ginny to hear. She gaped at him.
"You are unbelievable!" Ginny exclaimed, still giving him a look. Draco just smiled, enjoying watching Ginny squirm. She glared. "I don't kiss ferret-boys either."
"Good thing I'm not one."
"Have you forgotten I'm a Gryffindor? One of Harry's closest friends?" Ginny raised an eyebrow, wondering what Draco's response was going to be. He laughed softly, his smirk returning. He didn't answer her question.
"I'm still waiting for my present."
Ginny bit her lip, her heart thumping madly. She stood up, her pulse racing, and gave him a weak smile. She leaned forward, her lips tentatively meeting his. She was swept away by emotions as Draco deepened the kiss. They stood there for a few moments, joined by the lips, before Ginny pulled away, panting.
"Happy grad, Malfoy," she breathed, her heart refusing to slow down. They stared at each other in comfortable silence before the door flew open. Ginny leapt away from Draco, ruffling her papers as Professor McGonagall walked in.
"Times up," she told Ginny. She glanced at Draco, surprise falling over her face. "Mister Malfoy. What are you doing in here?"
"Pansy's pen." He gestured towards it. He picked it up and walked right by Ginny, not saying anything. He disappeared. Ginny bit her lip and handed her papers to Professor McGonagall before hurrying out of the Astronomy Tower.
Ginny felt short of breath. She felt her lips linger slightly. Ginny touched them, still panting. Why had she and Draco kissed? It was so spur of the moment. Ginny had a feeling she wasn't even going to see him again. Would she tell anyone? Would anyone even believer her? No, no way. Draco Malfoy had kissed her. Or more, asked her to kiss him and she had obliged.
By the time Ginny got down to the ceremony, it was already over. Nobody, not even Draco, was still there. Sighing, Ginny sat down in a chair, trying to remember how Draco's lips had felt against her. Ferret-boy and Weasel… who would have figured?
