A/N: Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written. Between classes, work, and my ex, I was really busy this fall and winter to this point. Hopefully my schedule will open up enough to allow me some more time to write this spring, since classes will be all I’ll have to worry about come the end of the month since the store I’m at is closing then. I’m still working on both “Tell Me” and the (still) untitled sequel to “All I Want for Christmas” and hope to eventually get both of those stories up, though I have no timeline on when that will be. I hope you enjoy this sappy little one-shot that came to mind. It was a little tough to write a sappy story with my break-up only being a couple of weeks old, but being a hopeless romantic helped get me through it. The rating is for sexual references and innuendo, just to be on the safe side. Please read and review! Disclaimer: Standard one applies. Harry Potter isn’t mine. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda… A Small Gift for Valentine’s Day Hermione nervously fussed over her sky blue, form-fitting dress for the umpteenth time in the last ten minutes. She smiled glowingly at her reflection. Being Mrs. Potter certainly had its perks. Of course, she was still getting used to calling herself that, as their wedding was only three weeks ago. She nervously glanced at the small box she had on her nightstand that she had just wrapped a couple hours before. It wasn’t what she was originally going to give Harry for Valentine’s Day, but something unexpected had changed her plans. She knew that Harry was planning on taking her to a very extravagant restaurant tonight after he got back from the Hogwarts library, where he had gone to do some research for the book on defending the Dark Arts that he was writing. He was supposed to be coming home any time now to shower and get dressed for the evening. I wonder what he got me. Not that he needs to get me anything. Having him to grow old and raise a family with is enough for me. Of course, he’ll take any chance he can get to spoil me. Hermione smiled to herself as she admired her slim figure in the mirror one last time before going downstairs to their sitting room to relax while she waited for him. She had time to relax for once since her work for S.P.E.W. was going very well thanks to Harry and Dobby. The house elves were starting to want to be paid for their services, though what they wanted to be paid in depended on the house elf. None of them so far had asked to be paid in galleons, they were mainly asking for clothes of various types, predominately socks. Dobby had become an inspiration to house elves across Hermione sat in her favorite armchair next to the fireplace and placed her folded hands on her flat stomach. The training they had done to help prepare for the final battle had certainly helped her figure. It wasn’t more than a couple of minutes later when she heard a soft, familiar pop of apparition in the entry way. She immediately got up and walked that way, quickly being swept up into a big hug by Harry. Mmm…I’m definitely going to enjoy this part of being Mrs. Potter, she thought to herself as Harry kissed her soundly. “Happy Valentine’s Day, love,” he whispered in her ear. “Same to you, hun,” she breathed in his ear. “Mmm…if you do too much of that we’ll be late for our reservation.” “I can be dessert instead.” “I just may hold you to that,” he replied huskily. “Good,” she murmured seductively. There was a pregnant pause before Harry gestured towards the stairs. “I suppose I should go and get cleaned up so we can go.” Hermione smiled and nodded at him, then watched as he disappeared up the stairs. He sure looks yummy. I hope he thinks I look just as yummy in a couple of years. ********** A half an hour later, Hermione heard her husband’s footsteps coming down the stairs, so she stood up and went over to wait for him. “Wow! Mr. Potter, you look very handsome tonight.” Harry smiled down at her. “And you look very beautiful Mrs. Potter.” Hermione blushed softly and looked down shyly. “So where are we going tonight?” “Oh you’ll see,” Harry told her as he wrapped his arm around her waist and disapparated with a soft pop. ********** Hermione gasped when she realized that Harry had made reservations at the most posh restaurant in the wizarding world. “Harry how did you manage to get us a table? I’ve heard you have to make reservations for tonight about six months in advance…we weren’t even engaged then!” Harry smiled somewhat cheekily. “I was pretty sure you were going to say ‘yes’ when I popped the question and that you’d want to have the wedding as soon as possible, allowing enough time to properly organize it, of course.” Hermione smiled guiltily. He knows me better than anyone. He’s almost always spot on in regards to how I’ll respond to something. A waiter approached their table. “Can I start the two of you off with something to drink this evening?” “A glass of champagne for me please,” Harry said. “Oh! Umm…I’ll have some pumpkin juice,” Hermione responded. Harry turned and looked at her completely confused. “Is anything wrong, love?” Hermione nervously replied, “No hun, nothing’s wrong.” “Then why didn’t you get champagne?” Oh crud…I should have thought out an answer before we came…He knows me better than anyone so he’ll know that I’m lying…How do I avoid telling him until later? “So what’d you get me?” Hermione asked impishly. “You didn’t answer my question.” Harry responded with a raised eyebrow. “I’ll explain in due time, hun.” Harry shrugged. “Okay, if that’s the way you want to play it. You’ll just have to wait until we get home to find out what I got you.” Hermione smiled in relief. “That’s fine.” ********** After a nice relaxing dinner, Harry and Hermione returned to their new home in Hogsmede. Harry led her into the sitting room, and escorted her over to their loveseat, where he helped her sit down. “Wait here while I go get your present from upstairs.” She smiled as he disappeared up the stairs. I wonder what he got me. He knows me so well I’m sure it’ll be something I’ll enjoy. Suddenly a bouquet of fire and ice roses floated into the room from the stairway. Hermione smiled as she grabbed them out of the air and inhaled their lovely scent. Mmm…Harry definitely is getting lucky tonight. He remembered that I absolutely love these. Of course he may be in a celebratory mood after…
Hermione’s musings were interrupted by the sound of Harry’s feet coming down the stairs, so she wandered into the kitchen to put the roses in a vase before returning to her spot next to Harry on the loveseat. Hermione gave Harry a confused look because she didn’t see her present anywhere. Suddenly, Harry opened his left hand, palm up, before waving his right hand over it, and suddenly a small jewelry box appeared. He smiled at her as he handed it to her to open. Hmm…I wonder what this is…It obviously isn’t a ring. Oh just hush and be surprised already! Hermione gasped as she opened the box. It’s beautiful. She gently lifted the gold necklace that had two entwined hearts on the end out of the box. She gave Harry a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, hun. I love it.” Harry smiled lovingly back at her, before his grin changed into an impish one. “So where’s my gift?” Hermione smiled back at him. “I’ll be right back with it.” She stood up and quickly walked upstairs to their bedroom, and reached into her nightstand where she had slipped the box earlier. I hope he likes it and isn’t too slow at figuring it out, she thought to herself as she took a deep breath and started down the stairs. Mustering as much Gryffindor courage as she could she shrunk the box down and walked back into the sitting room and sat down next to Harry again. He put his hand on her knee almost as soon as she sat down. “Are you my present?” he asked with a waggle of his eyebrows. “Maybe,” she responded flirtatiously before relenting and returning the box she had for him to its original size. He took it from her when she held it out to him with a puzzled look on his face, as if he was trying to figure out what she might have got him that would fit into a box that small. Hermione nervously watched as Harry carefully unwrapped what she had sown together only yesterday after the unexpected development she found out about earlier in the week. He lifted the booty out of the small box and uncomprehendingly gazed at it before looking up at Hermione. “Umm…Hermione…What’s this?” Hermione gazed adoringly at her utterly clueless, but absolutely adorable husband. “I’ll be making a few more of those over the next nine months. That was all I had time to finish for today.” Harry’s face looked just as confused for a minute, then Hermione could see the realization finally start to sink in. Harry looked from the booty to her, down to her stomach, back up to her, back to the booty, and finally back to her. Then a smile slowly started to grow across his face. “Y-y-y-y-you mean…We…When…How long…” Harry sputtered as a stream of questions rolled of his tongue before he fell into a stunned silence. “I just found out a couple days ago. I know myself well enough that I should have realized that it was a good possibility on our wedding night if we didn’t take precautions.” “Our wedding night, hmmm?” Harry replied impishly. “That good, am I?” Hermione slapped his shoulder lightly. “You know just as well as I do that we lost count that night.” Harry kissed Hermione passionately with a huge grin on his face. “I feel up to a little celebrating tonight. How about you, love?” “Mmm…” she murmured against his lips. “That sounds like a very good idea.” They stumbled their way to their bedroom and progressed to celebrate passionately and enthusiastically all-night-long. A/N: About time I wrote a completely adorable, yet utterly clueless Harry, wasn’t it? :-P I’ve tended to write Hermione as the clueless one in my previous stories. We’ll see if oblivious Harry reappears any time soon. |
