Chapter One: "How About You"
A/N: Yup, here's my new D/G story =) It's going to have everything you're looking for in a good D/G story… romantic tension, lies, love, & a storyline. I'm positive if you guys read it, you'll learn to love it.
There's also a bit of H/Hr thrown in it because Harry is currently dating Hermione. So please, read the story and enjoy.
Harry sighed in frustration as he looked back down at the potions book he had taken from the library. He reread the instructions on making the complex Polyjuice Potion that would last two weeks.
Harry scanned the instructions again and then realized what he had forgotten to put in- some of Pansy's hair. How was he going to pull that one off? Pansy always hung out with the Slytherins and she wouldn't let Harry get within ten feet of her.
Harry put his hand on his head, feeling defeated. He'd have to finish the potion tomorrow. Thankfully, he had finished it just in time. Christmas break was in three days, and Harry finally had a plan to spy on Draco Malfoy.
Ever since Draco had joined up with Voldemort last year, Harry had decided to keep a close eye on him. Although Harry wasn't positive Draco was still working for Voldemort, his father was most definitely a Death Eater. Therefore, Harry found it best to spy on Draco whenever possible.
Harry had come across a complex Polyjuice Potion that allowed you to become another person for two weeks. With Pansy going home for Christmas Break and Draco remaining behind, Harry seized this as the perfect opportunity to get into the Slytherin common room. He was going to become Pansy in order to spy on Draco. All Harry needed were Pansy's hairs.
Harry hadn't told anyone about what he was planning on doing. He wasn't sure why he hadn't told Hermione or Ron, especially since he was going out with Hermione now, but Harry felt like this was something he had to keep to himself.
Harry put the potion into a flask and then slipped it into his coat. He slipped on his invisibility cloak and headed back towards the Gryffindor common room. He took off the cloak as he reached the Fat Lady. He muttered the password and quietly crept into the common room. Hermione was the only one left in the common room. She was scribbling madly on a piece of parchment.
Harry smiled to himself as he headed over towards her. He kissed her cheek softly and then sat down next to her.
"Hey," Harry muttered softly. Hermione turned her head and Harry leaned in. Hermione move her lips closer to close the distance between her and Harry as she kissed him.
They broke away slowly, and Hermione blushed slightly. "Listen, Harry… do you have anything planned for Christmas break?"
Harry bit his lip. He didn't want to tell Hermione about the Polyjuice Potion, because he knew she wouldn't approve. "No… not really. I was just planning on staying back here at Hogwarts and spend some time er alone."
Hermione's face broke into a small smile. "Good. Then do you mind coming home with me for the holidays? I mean, my parents have never met you and I'd love for you to meet them. Please?"
"Er…" Harry was feeling a bit jammed. He could always postpone the Polyjuice Potion thing, couldn't he? After all, it wasn't as if the Polyjuice Potion went bad. There were more holidays later on when Harry could use it. However, Harry had already planned everything. What if next holiday was too late to spy on Draco? What if he had killed someone before then? But Harry wanted more than anything to spend time with Hermione…
"Okay," Harry finally agreed. He gave her a small peck on the lips. "I'd love to meet your family, Hermione."
Hermione gave Harry a loving kiss. "Thanks so much. You're going to love them, I swear."
Harry wrapped his arms around Hermione and kissed her. "Anything for you. You know I love you."
Hermione smiled slightly. "I love you too, Harry." She kissed him softly and then told him good night. She packed up her parchment and headed off to the girl's dormitory. Harry watched her disappear up the stairs and then headed towards the boy's dormitory. Harry would figure out what he was going to do about spying on Draco in the morning.
*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*
Harry headed down the boy's dormitory, panicking. Once again, Harry had overslept. Since he spent most of his nights working on the potion, Harry hardly got any sleep. In a mad rush, Harry had grabbed his robes and his school bag and was now running towards the portrait hole. Not watching where he was going, Harry crashed straight into Ginny Weasley.
"Ouch," Harry yelled as he fell to the ground. His school books scattered everywhere. Ginny groaned and then pushed the books off of herself. She helped Harry gather up the books, avoiding looking at him.
"Hey Ginny, what are you doing this break?" Harry asked, getting an idea. After all, it was better if a girl pretended to be Pansy… and Ginny was his close friend. He could trust her to get information for him.
Ginny looked up at Harry. "Nothing. Ron is heading back to the Burrow, but I can't stand to be in the same house as him anymore. He's driving me crazy. He keeps pestering me to get back together with you." She sighed, a look of sheet disgust on her face. Harry gave her an apologetic look. He knew exactly what she was talking about. Ron had been pestering him as well to ask Ginny out again. However, Ginny and Harry both knew that it was over and that their relationship was to only be platonic.
"Ginny, I have a kind of big favor to ask of you." Harry looked at her, feeling very nervous. Would she do this for him?
Ginny looked mildly surprised. "Yeah, sure Harry. What do you need me to do?"
Harry took a deep breath. "I've created a complex Polyjuice Potion that will turn me into Pansy for two weeks. Since Draco is staying here for the Christmas holidays, I was planning on using it to spy on him. However, er something's come up at the last minute and I was hoping you could pretend to be Pansy for me."
Ginny bit her lip and sighed. "Harry, are you sure this is a good idea? I mean, honestly… you don't know what Malfoy is up to. Are you sure it's safe?"
Harry shook his head. "Draco isn't going to hurt Pansy. He probably has much bigger things to do."
Ginny nodded slowly. "Well, if this really means a lot to you…"
"It does, Ginny," Harry told her solemnly.
"I'll do it," Ginny told Harry with a nod. "But I'm sorry if I don't do that good of a job. I'll do my best."
Harry sighed, relieved. "Thanks, Gin. You really are a great friend."
She shrugged. "I really don't have anything better to do. Is the potion finished, or are you still working on it?"
"All I need is Pansy's hair. Any idea how I can get it?"
Ginny pursed her lips. "Leave it to me. Just give me the potion, okay?"
Ginny took the potion from Harry, wondering what she was getting herself into. After all, this was Draco Malfoy they were talking about. Who even knew if he told Pansy anything. She might not get anything out of him.
"Thanks again," Harry told her, going to the boy's dormitory. Ginny grimaced and then headed off to get Pansy's hair.
*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*
Ginny entered the Great Hall, the potion in her pocket. She looked around and spotted Pansy getting up from the Slytherin table. Ginny hurried a little closer, hoping to overhear what Pansy was saying.
"I have to go pack, Drakie. I'm leaving tomorrow. I'll see you when I get back," Pansy was telling Draco. Draco nodded absentmindedly, eating his food. Pansy huffed, annoyed that Draco wasn't paying any attention to her. She flounced off. Ginny took off after her.
"Hey Parkinson!" Ginny called after Pansy. Pansy stopped in front of the Slytherin common room and turned around, looking disgusted.
"Did you say something, Weasley?" Pansy asked, a bored expression on her face. "I can think of doing so many more useful things."
"You have a gray hair on your head," Ginny told Pansy.
"What?" Pansy looked startled. Her hand flew to her hair as she madly plucked at her hair. "Is it out? Is it out?"
Ginny laughed and Pansy looked mortified.
"Whatever, Weasel." Pansy turned around and disappeared into the common room. Ginny bent down and picked up one of the hairs Pansy had pulled out of her head. She put it into the Polyjuice Potion. Finally, the potion was ready for her tomorrow.
"Ginny!"
Ginny turned around and saw Harry running towards her. He was clutching his trunk in one hand and his wand in the other. "Is everything ready?"
Ginny nodded and gave him a small smile. "Don't worry, Harry. You just go have a good holiday with Hermione. I'll tell you everything when you get back."
Harry nodded and then looked up at Ginny. "Oh yeah, and Ginny? Thanks again for doing this."
Ginny shook her head and waved him off because heading back to the common room. After tonight, she wasn't going to be Ginny Weasley for another two weeks. Instead, she'd be a person she abhorred- Pansy Parkinson.
*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*
Ginny stayed in the common room until three o'clock the next day. She had to make sure everyone was gone before she took the potion. Ginny tiptoed down the girl's dormitory to check if anyone was left in the common room. There was nobody. Practically everyone had gone home for Christmas Break. Ginny realized that probably the only two people left in the school were her and Draco Malfoy.
"Wow, this is sure going to be a swell Christmas," Ginny muttered under her breath. She took out the potion and drowned it, gagging. She had no idea that the potion tasted so disgusting.
Ginny hurried to the mirror to look at herself. Her flaming red hair had turned black and her face was a lot plumper. Ginny definitely was a splitting image of Pansy Parkinson. Ginny took out the Slytherin robe Harry had nicked for her and put it on. She took her Slytherin scarf with her and the list of Slytherin passwords as she headed out of the door.
Ginny reached the Slytherin common room and then took out her list of passwords. "Uh… hippogriff." Ginny smirked to herself. Malfoy must love that password.
Ginny entered the Slytherin common room to be greeted…
By Draco Malfoy's lips.
