Many students were surprised to see Professor Granger back at the staff table the next year at the Welcoming Feast. She had told them that she was leaving at the end of the previous year. All of them were surprised when they saw Harry Potter sitting at the staff table beside her. When Professor McGonagall stood to make the beginning of the year announcements she said “Welcome to another year at Hogwarts. The Forbidden Forest is off limits and all Weasley products are banned by Mr. Filch. I am happy to announce that we have two new teachers joining us this year. First off, we have Professor Potter who has taken over Defense Against Dark Arts. I assure you that he is very well qualified.” There were a few laughs at this. “At the end of last year, I informed you that Professor Granger was leaving, yet you see her before you. Well, I am happy to announce that she is now Professor Potter.” Cheers erupted from all the older students, as Hermione was one of their favorite teachers. “Now,” Professor McGonagall continued, “Let the feast begin!” --- Hermione soon found out that she was pregnant. When she told Harry, he just stood there looking at her before he pulled her into a bone crushing hug. She went to Madame Pomfrey after that to see if he had broken anything. At least that was what she told Harry. She was really going to have a check up. Mary Elizabeth Potter was born three days before the term ended. Many of her students from the upper years dropped by to see them in the hospital wing when Madame Pomfrey would allow it. She was still overprotective of her patients and sometimes Hermione was thankful of that. Harry and Hermione continued to teach for the next two years until their twins were born. Sirius and Vance Potter were almost the same as Fred and George, according to Molly, and Hermione was determined not to let them become the troublemakers Fred and George were. As they got older, they proved to be unstoppable and Hermione just gave up. She took two years off to be with them while Harry continued to teach. When they were old enough, they bought a flat in Diagon Alley which was just a quick portkey away. These portkeys were gifts from Albus when the twins were born and could be programmed to go anywhere they wanted. Eight years later Mary Elisabeth began her first year at Hogwarts. Just like her mother, she was extremely smart and was sorted into Gryffindor without hesitation from the Sorting Hat. Her grades were almost as good as Hermione’s were, but not quite. She was not interested in Quidditch, much to Harry’s disappointment. When the twins came along two years later, also in Gryffindor, Mary Elisabeth attempted to control them, but with little success. Fred and George personally came and congratulated them for breaking their record for the most detentions in their first year, something that Hermione was not happy about, since most of those detentions had reluctantly come from herself and Harry. The twins thought that they could get away with pranks in their parents classes, but were mistaken. They joined the Quidditch team as a chaser and seeker in their second year, Sirius being the chaser and Vance the seeker. He was as good as his father. Mary Elisabeth became a Prefect and then Head Girl in her seventh year. She also got top grades on her NEWTS. After her graduation, she became a healer at St. Mungo’s and discovered many cures to aliments. Sirius and Vance, although not the best in their classes, excelled in Quidditch and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Both went on after a few NEWTS to become Aurors, and the pair became an inseparable team. Harry and Hermione retired after forty years of teaching apiece. Harry was offered the Headmaster position but refused, opting to spend more time at home with his wife. They spent as much time with their grandchildren as they could and with the Weasley family. And they were happy. |
