AN: The song “I Pray For You” by Big&Rich inspired this fic partially. As always I don't own anything (except the words I wrote and the plot) Otherwise the song belongs to Big&Rich, and Harry of course belongs to J.K. Rowling. Please let me know what you think, whether you love it, hate, have suggestions to make it better, whatever. But please, no flames.

~*~*~*~

Sometimes when I sleep
I can see you walkin' back to me
Sometimes I wake up
'Cause I swear I felt your touch
Then emotions over come me
And the darkness is so cold

Harry tossed and turned in bed, images flashing in his mind. Sirius falling through the veil, the frozen look of surprise etched on his handsome face. Dumbledore hanging in mid-air off the Astronomy Tower like some kind of grotesque puppet.

Voldemort in the graveyard in fourth year, ordering Wormtail to kill Cedric, his haunting words echoing in Harry's mind, “Kill the Spare.”

His mother's scream, begging Voldemort not to kill Harry; to kill her instead. Voldemort raising his wand, a green flash and then nothing. Inky blackness surrounding him.

Then suddenly the images changed; there was bright light. A figure started walking towards him. As it got closer, Harry realized it was more than one someone.

“Mum? Dad? Sirius? Professor?” he rasped.

They nodded. His mother spoke first.

“Son, we are so proud of you. For everything you've done. You've grown up to become a wonderful young man, to become more than we ever hoped you would. Your father and I knew what we were doing that night, Harry. We knew what we were giving up. We knew we were dying so you could live. Please don't hold yourself responsible for that. Our soul reason for doing it was so you could live and be happy. So you could survive, so others wouldn't have to die. You can defeat him Harry, we have faith in you.” When she finished speaking, Lily reached out and brushed Harry's fringe out of his eyes, before enveloping him in a hug. “My son,” she whispered against him.

Harry held on tightly, wanting to savor the moment of holding his mother for both the first and last time in his life. “I love you, Mum,” he whispered in a choked voice when they parted.

“I love you too Harry,” Lily whispered back, leaning forward and kissing him on the cheek.

After she stepped back, his father stepped forward. For moment, they both stood studying each other. Harry immediately saw again, why people said he looked like his father. Everything except the eyes on the man standing before him was a mirror image of himself.

Finally James spoke, “Harry, I'm so proud of you. You have grown to be everything I've ever wanted in a son and more. I couldn't ask for anything more.” Then James simply grabbed Harry and pulled Harry to him.

The tears, which hadn't really gone since he had hugged his mother, streaked down his cheeks. “Thank you dad, I'm glad I'm the son you wanted me to be,” Harry whispered.

James nodded as he pulled away, eyes shining on his own face as stepped back to stand next to Lily.

Sirius came forward gave Harry a bear hug. “I've missed you Sirius,” Harry said, his voice thick now.

“I missed you too, Harry,” Sirius said, his own voice thick with emotion. Once he had released him, Sirius looked at Harry and said, “Please don't blame yourself for my death Harry. I most certainly don't. I knew what I what doing. I know I let myself get distracted by goading Bellatrix and she took advantage of it. You did nothing wrong that night Harry. I would have done the same thing. Under the same circumstances, I would have done the same thing. And to tell you the truth Harry, I wouldn't change anything about that night. I know that you've taken at least one positive thing away from that night. You've learned not to just jump into things without knowing all the facts. And you've learned not to take your friends, especially a certain Miss Granger, for granted. Some lessons in life are hard Harry, and the ones that are learned the hardest are the ones that stay with us and help us to not make the same mistakes again. But don't blame yourself for anything that happened that night either. It was out of your control,” Sirius finished, giving Harry a hard look.

Harry let Sirius' words roll through his mind and he realized that they made sense. He had learned from his mistakes from that night. But he still had to try not to take his friends for granted. He smiled, Sirius was right. He knew he would have try to realize that he wasn't to blame.

“Thanks Sirius, I needed that,” Harry told him.

“Anytime, Harry. Now Dumbledore here still wants to have few words with you,” Sirius said, stepping back to stand with Harry's parents.

The tall figure of Albus Dumbledore strode forward as if this was nothing out of the ordinary, but just simply a walk in the park or down the corridor at Hogwarts.

“Harry, I am sorry that I failed you, but know that I did not ever lose my faith in you. I know you can defeat Tom. You have showed many others and me that you have outstanding courage even in the face of adversity. I am very proud of you for that. And as I have told you in the past, do not let your friends go, Harry. They are your greatest asset. Don't ever forget that,” Dumbledore told him, resting a hand on Harry's shoulder.

The weight of Dumbledore's hand on his shoulder almost caused Harry to come undone. But he managed to keep his tears at bay this time, instead giving Dumbledore a reassuring smile before speaking.

“Thanks professor, I needed to hear that too,” Harry, said, his voice still choked with emotion.

Patting him on the shoulder, Dumbledore removed his hand and stepped back to stand with Harry's parents and Sirius.

“We have to leave you now, Harry but we won't be far. We will continue to watch over you and help you in any way we can. Until the day we meet again, I love you son,” Lily said, grasping James' hand.

Harry nodded, not trusting his voice.

With one finally nod from his father they were gone.

Harry awoke suddenly, his eyes wide and searching. As the dream (or vision?) came back to him, he felt the wetness of tears on his cheeks. Wiping them away, he thought about what was said in the dream and decided that maybe they were right.

He vowed silently as he lay back into his pillows, that he would try his hardest to never let his friends feel like they were being taken for granted. And he would maybe, tell Hermione that she meant more to him than just a friend. That he loved her.

With that thought, Harry quickly dropped back off to sleep.
