TOW, I'm really liking this. Your stuff is REALLY good. I like the fact that you have Harrys that aren't only in Gryffindor. It's especially cool that you have the different stories going on at the same time. When it comes to keeping the seperate stories updated or updating one then moving on, I'd say either way would be good. Personally, I'd prefer them to be updated as they come to you, not just one at a time. It's nice to get a new chapter for something once in a while, even if it means that the stories won't be finished for longer. keep up the great work!

Well it's a great start to what promises to be yet another fantastic story. I'm very impressed by all of your characterizations. You have a fantastic talent to make all of the characters so real...and yet they're different in every story. That's not easy to do, especially with how many stories you're juggling! (very impressive, that) I'm very excited to read more...and I'll try to review, but I always seem to end up more of a lurker because I can never think of anything constructive to say. As for your question on whether to focus on one story or just update what you can, when you can...I favor the latter. I get so wrapped up in the stories that I like to see them all updated. However, that being said...ultimately, I think you should do whatever is easiest for you. You can't please everyone...so do whatever will allow you to keep your sanity. ;-D Can't wait to read more of whatever it is you decide to update next! Thanks for sharing.

Not sure about Hermione being friends with Ron. Given how Ron treated her in the book, I'd think it would be worse without Harry there. He called her a know-it-all and made her cry hence the whole Troll in bathroom. Truthfully if only Harry was different while everyone else's characters and attitudes are the same as in the book, Hermione and Neville would probably be outcasts of their year and hang out with Harry and other people he's friends with.

Good start. Surprised Ron got even the smallest mention, since he's hardly likely to talk with Hermione without Harry being around. Also like Vernon's characterization, and the fact that Quirrel used Harry to get past most obstacles.

Ok, so, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I mean, you ran a whole year ina single chapter, plus there's the fact that Harry and Hermione are in different houses, although Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs seem to be quite close and do lots of things together. But, being in different houses they are bound to spend less time together than if they were in the same house. Also, I didn't like how easily Harry was played by Quirrel. I also didn't like how Harry was a bit of a crybaby before Hogwarts, and how he seems to look up to the Dursleys, or at least Vernon.

But, seeing Tonks in school was good, and the chapter was well written so overall I can say I liked it, just not everything.

This is somewhat interesting, but I'm a huge fan of your "The Meaning of Father" story. I'd like to see you focus on that one. The twists and semireligious themes are quite interesting.

wow, that was different... so different that i'm extremely interested. I didn't think anyone'd do a hufflepuff harry that was A)a bitch and B) would ditch ron and hermoine on the most written about event in hpfanfiction the philosophers stone. Keep up the excellent work

Yet another excellent story penned by yourself! The placement of Harry in Hufflepuff is well described and logical and he can still easily access his canon friends. It's interesting how you have shown Harry to be more personally hurt by the way Quirrel used him to get to the Philosopher's stone - using the concept of his Hufflepuff sense of loyalty to others.

As far as your other stories are concerned (I'm up to date and am really enjoying them) so I, personally, don't mind you updating several stories at the same time. If it went to picking a story, however, I'd have to vote for TMF (and I'm not sure I can handle horror fics like The Pale )

Oh, and thanks! Because of you mentioning another author's story in ch.6 of TMF (KafkaExMachina) I've been on a sabbatical from Portkey!! I read first the story you mentioned and then all the rest of his as well! And that led onto a couple of other authors over there as well... Some of them were SO hilarious, I literally could NOT stop reading. Is that enough of a review?

Interesting AU. A different "Golden Trio", but since first year is already over without much action from both Neville and Hermione as team members... Maybe next year...

I like this AU. Harry seems to be much more focused, taking more interest on how to achieve in school and life...

I know that this is the first year and the first chapter of the story, but for future chapters, will it still be 1 chapter per year ? Even if the chapters are long, it will only be a short story. Okay, first year nothing happens much, more like introduction to the series, but the following years..

I can't wait for the other stories, espacially TMF. Can't wait for those updates.

Your stories are right now probably the best that are being posted on to Portkey, and while there are some other writers knocking about who are doing work as good, I don't think there's anyone doing better.

This version of the Harry re-write is probably the weakest of your stories to date, but it's still quite good, using a lot of the ideas from your other stories, but doing so in a different way, instead of just a carbon copy with slightly different characters.

Your only real problem is stretching yourself too thin. Generally the more stories a writer starts, the less likely he is to finish any of them. Writing is long and exhausting work, and it's a lot easier and more fun to conceptualize and begin a new work than it is to slog out an older one to the end. And it can be a slog no doubt about it. Inevitably what you end up with is a lot of good beginnings, and nothing finished, and there are lot of good writer's who have fallen into that trap on Portkey alone.

When I first started writing, more years ago than i like to think about, I was given a good piece of advice that I try to stick with no matter what, and it comes in two parts.

Whatever you start writing, finish, if for no other reason than to get into the habit of it. And, just to make part one easier, try not to start any new stories until you've finished the old ones.

Since starting More Equal Than You Know, you've quadrupled the number of open stories you have and while they're all quite good, more and more of them are stalling out at one or two chapters which, if that time had been spent on More Equal Than You Know, might not be finished (I don't know how long it's supposed to be) but would be further along than it is now, no matter how you look at it. Four chapters of one story is usually better than the first chapter of four stories - the latter situation will just sap your creativity and your energy, faster than you think it will. Rather than bouncing from one to the other, chapter by chapter, you're probably better off - as exhausting as it is - picking one and finishing it through to the end, then moving on to the next and so on, and even if you do eventually give up, at least one of your stories is finished and that is something.

Your two most obvious choices for focusing on are The Meaning of Father - which is probably the best thing you're writing right now -- or More Equal than you know, which is the furthest along. If I had to suggest one I'd say The Meaning of Father. I think it's your best and it's certainly my favorite so I'm biased. It has the most promising story so far and the best characterization. It also offers the most original of your current stories. While your re-writes of Harry's past are quite good, they're still part of what has almost become a new genre, right up there with Harry travels back in time to live his life over again (and don't even think it).

So, that's my advice, for whatever it's worth.

Well I liked it. Read it in one sitting. Harry was a little too trusting, but I can see why since he was looking for validation and Quirrell knew that. Question about his scar not acting up though in your story? I thought he would feel something if not pain. What happened to Remus? What happened to the Stone? Is it still in the Mirror? Looking forward to reading this as you continue

Nice beginning, I can already see the slight deviations from canon. I can't wait to read the next chapter. As far as I'm concerned, just update whichever story seems to be flowing fastest first. I certainly don't mind you continuing to work on all your stories at once.
