I'm more seeing Ginny doing this after an affair gone bad, or even Lavander. And there are other things Hermione can do given thats she got a full scholorship which most includes household expenses.

This first chapter and the whole story sounds promising filled with angst,passion and romance..
I do feel sorry for Hr and I hope Harry won't be such as an asshole once he comes back ans starts acting as a real friend for Hr...interesting the whole scenario that he will find though and top of that his reaction to it all...

Kinda a tough one to figure out here... mostly how to rate it not how the plot is going.

OOC there is little to no question as pretty much you've dropped every hint on earth that Hermione is the equivalent of a showgirl/stripper. Which is a HUGE turn off from reading this story since that is beyond OOC.

The plot is one we've seen a lot (or at least anyone that has read some Harmony for about a day...) yet its still pretty well written.

I'll probably come back for chapter 2 to just see if you give us any more info on where this is going but you'll have to work at it to make this not predictable:

harry leaves abruptly, Hermione feels a huge range emotions, harry returns and hermione is in a relationship (or position) that harry doesnt like, he gets mad while shes still mad, then throughout the next few angsty sessions they start to rebuild what they had and it all ends happily ever after.

So just dont follow a formula like that is all I'm saying because it really does get old.

So, she works as a dancer for Malfoy? Blimey, you told us to expect them to be way OOC, but I never expected this. And, have all of the guys on the good side lost their magic? It seems so.

I just hope she won't fall for Draco before Harry returns, that would be something he would really be hard pressed to accept.
