Why couldn't you have written the epilogue? I was just reliving some of the last two books during a discussion with a couple of friends today and got all riled up again with depression...

That really hit home, that line -

Oh I like your ending better. Don\'t we all wish we could get into JKR mind and see what is going on there. I know I would like some answers.

Well, that was certainly a much more satisfying ending to the whole thing. With a very amusing lead-in to boot. Given how the last book turned out, I can well believe that she hasn't reread the books since the early days: possibly not since she was writing Goblet, or maybe Order. Poor Harry... but, you made it right in the end! Well done!

I always wanted Harry and Hermione to get together from book 1. Not only do they have more in common with out constant arguments. It is a case of Brains (Hr) and braun (H). This is never used I have noticed in ff. But it makes practical sense. Harry has raw power, Hermione is the smartist witch ever. And every truly succesfull man learns to listen to his wife. Women are more practical than men, as any long term married man can tell you. I really wish Jo had gone this ship.

Well, it is good to let the character talk back. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that, after OotP, JKR said "Oops! That wasn't meant to happen! I'm going to have to really have to work to get to the ending I plotted out!" Remember, the epilogue of DH was one of the first things that she wrote when she was still writing PS/SS, so I suppose that I can't blame her for being so attached to it.

BTW - I liked your revised epilogue. The characters were well written (worryingly, more in-character than in JKR's version) and I loved how well 'trained' Hermione has Harry and Ron. A nice bit of work all around.

I loved your epilogue so much better than JKR's. It made so much more sense. Good job!

I thought stranger than fiction was a good movie also.

interesting one shot, I liked it lots, and Harry did have a point with his observations.
