Hermione is a merperson at the Hogwarts lake? Can the potion she took when younger be reversed? What's going through Camilla's mind? Does salt water differ from fresh water much?

Hmm, interesting in that it seems this -Tom- has been a bit more active underwater than previously noticed. It will be interesting to see how the new locale works out for all of these merpeople, especially come the Tri-Wizard Tournament. It's an interesting variation on canon and I'm definitely waiting for the explanation of why Hermione was abducted by a Death Eater.

So far it's been a most interesting read.

Oh, my!!! That's quite the beginning and I suspect it's going to change a lot of matters as time progresses. I admit to being exceedingly curious as to why she'd been kidnapped by a Death Eater and just what vileness had been planned for her. It will be fascinating to see if, after he gets to Hogwarts, Tim comes to understand and report what he saw that night. This beginning has all sorts of interesting possibilities and I'll be looking forward to seeing where you take this story.

It took me some time to realize that the village was underwater and not a coastal one. I thought the Great Shark was a metaphor... I see it's not. Are these Deep Sea Merfolk? What did the Potion do? Poor Camilla - you conveyed her shock and grief well, as well as the doubly sad Pasha (sad because not only had his son died, but his wife hadnt accepted it).

Why did the DE not kill Hermione right away? Why were her parents targeted? Where they purebloods?

Anyway, you've made a great start, and I'm adding a chapter alert.

Ok, so Camilla and company are merpeople, then? That's the only point that I was confused about, I just didn't know what kind of "people" that the Elder was talking about turning Hermione into with a potion. I like the story though, and am looking forward to the next chapter
