Harry was actually talking about his parents--he was lost in his emotions about them until the end of the story where he finally expresses some tenderness to Hermione. Here's hoping we see something like that in DH! |

Oh, that's a lovely mood piece. It's clear he's been through/is going through a lot and she's doing what she can to support him. The very last bit makes it clear that he knows, appreciates, and apparently returns her interest and support. I know this is a one shot, but it could just as easily be the intro to quite a story. |

Very depressing, really, in some ways almost worse than a character death fic. Is it better to lose somone and grieve for the loss of the closeness you shared, or to never realize that the answer to your deepest longings is sitting right next to you? I don't have the answer, but it definitely makes you stop and think. |
