EEEENTeresting. Seriously. That Bella is one twisted beeyatch. Yikes. So if we are yr 13 PV then Hope is a 2nd year now? Third year?
I did catch one tiny mistake. You mistakenly identified Bella as Cissa above once. I had to read it a couple of times to see - but of course, then I understood. :-)
Have Ron & Luna had another child? Has Ginny (finally) been able to move past Harry and forgive Hope for existing? Inquiring minds want to know! Okay, seriously, this is shaping up to be a worth successor to Restoring Hope. I look forward to more of it.
I also have to say one of my favorite scenes in Restoring Hope was the one where McGonagall told Hope that she was fully aware that the parchment the "will" fragment was written on was 15 years old (or whatever), that the ink was barely dry. Every time my little boy tries to get one over one me, I think of that scene. I'm going to make a catch phrase out of it, I swear. Maybe "I know that ink's barely dry" - something to confuse everyone, except me of course!
Good job, as always...

Author Feedback: ("The ink's barely dry"??? Oh, I love it.)
This bit is set in Year 13 PV, so Hope is 13 and a third-year -- in the prologue. The main story starts on Hope's 14th birthday, next chapter.
The mistake you noted has already been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out. I normally have my chapters beta'd, but I wanted to get this posted before I lost my nerve. ("How can you *think* of writing more Harry Potter fanfics with Book 7 just a month away?" My Muse gets cranky sometimes.)
You will see Hope's younger brother Taine next chapter. And you'll see what everyone else has been doing in due course. Take care -- Bruce |

An interesting beginning. I think I'm hooked already. I love Draco's comparison to Sinn Fein -- very apt and not one I'd considered before.
Bella reminds me of a spider weaving her web for the unsuspecting in a dark corner and mostly out of sight. |
Author Feedback: Yes, the Sinn Fein reference was apt: it was the respectable front, not the IRA bombers, that ended up in charge. And don't think Draco doesn't realize it...
Bella favors the surgical strike over the all-out assault. She's craftily scary.
Thanks for the review, Trish. Talk to you soon... |

Very nice. Ironically I think Hogwarts does need a 'wizarding traditions' class and that given what we know about the wizarding world I'd expect the 'muggle studies' class to be useless in the extreme.
The Unicorn |
Author Feedback: Yes, I agree that a Wizarding Traditions class for first-year Muggleborns would make worlds of sense. But I'd think that the Statute of Secrecy would make an updated Muggle Studies class pretty necessary, too. Emphasis on the "updated" part, though -- we don't want Purebloods learning about flintlocks. |

Bellatrix sure is mad. I'm rather wondering about Draco's loyalties, will he play both sides, perhaps? Since it seems as if he does not want to be a reincarnation of his father.. Keep it up!! |
Author Feedback: Bellatrix is as mad now as she was in OotP, but her madness has evolved. And she hides it better now, too. As for Draco, it will be interesting to watch as he steps into a position of influence. (His father could never have replaced Voldemort... but Bella's not nearly as powerful as Voldemort, either.) |

I was so excited to see a new story in the Restoring Hope universe. Your characters are really my favorite, with a mature Ron, and the snippets of H/Hr. Cannot wait to see what happens in this one. Ohh and the return of Draco. oh dear. |
Author Feedback: Yeah, the return of Draco can't bode well for Our Heroes. Maybe we'll get more than snippets of H/Hr this time around, too. Thanks for dropping me a line! |

Author Feedback: Oh, yes, the first rule of a conqueror: control the schools. (It worked for Stalin in the old Soviet Union, too. In fact, history's replete with examples.) Glad that part rang true for you. Thank you! |

Seems like a great start. I always look forward to reading anything you deem worthy of posting.
I did notice one place at the beginning, where you said "Narcissa" was watching Draco, and I think you meant Bellatrix.
Other than that, can't wait for the rest! |
Author Feedback: D'ohhh! You're right, and I've fixed my mistake. (My own fault for posting this unbeta'd.)
More to come. Thank you again, lorien. |

Wow excellent beginning to what looks to be another great story from you. Very glad you are continuing with the Hope story, I love all the characters and storylines you have going her. Draco is back and Bellatrix is still the Dark Lady, scary stuff. Loved the part about trying to get their pure blood crap taught at Hogwarts, very timely I'd say. Can't wait for Hope and Ron and the potraits to appear. |
Author Feedback: Everyone shows up next chapter, which is Hope's 14th birthday. And we'll see why Draco, in his way, is just as dangerous as Bellatrix.
Thanks for reviewing! (Whoof, first reviews are always great to read.) |
