The soggy kiss won't be as important as Hermione's reaction when Harry tells her, which itself will be far less important than Hr thinking that Harry made prefect (rather than Ron) and Hr and Harry at Grimmauld over Christmas break.
I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about the cutting out the romance part of it...the month of H/G at the end of HBP didn't drive the plotline at all. I also imagine that there could be pressure to edit down the HHr moments in the OoTP movie if Book 7 does end up HG (director's perogative be damned when JKR can throw her weight around). |
Author Feedback: Yes...Rowling did talk to Emma Watson on set about her future romance in the series. I remember reading that Emma asked for her to come to set and discuss it. So...it will be telling if those scenes even make the movie. I have a feeling that the prefect stuff might just be skipped over...I mean OOTP is so loaded that they'll have to cut stuff like that out. Grawp is in it so we may or may not get Weasley is our king..
Yeah the romance is ultimately secondary to the Voldemort plot...and in HBP well I could picture H/G scenes as they play porn music for some reason....who knows?

It's always interesting for me to read attempts to "fix" what JKR has so thoroughly botched up ("more fanciable than ever" is Ron, right? Um oops, strike that).
The love potion explanation always seems to get the Heron's knickers in a twist, but hey...it beats the lame excuses that they seem to offer for why HG will win out (because JKR says so in interviews doesn't cut it with me).
I could live with H/ABG (Harry/Anyone But Ginny) and Hr/ABR but fear the worst come this July.
And you're right about the movie problem....Dan and Emma have got the chemistry, and the directors haven't been afraid to show it (especially GOF...Harry's look at the Yule Ball was priceless).

I just want H/not a fame grubber, and Hr/someone who won't argue with her and make her cry.
They might just have to cut romance out of the movies....have you seen the caps for the Harry/Cho kiss in OOTP....it looks atrocious....but I guess first kisses often are.

I actually like a well-written angst story, but this was a very nice break from it. Whatever it was JKR built Ginny Weasley's character up to be in her own mind, she never actually got around to writing, which is why I think so many of her readers are mystified that she would stick the hero with such an uninteresting, wishy-washy "equal". And I've never thought jealousy, bickering, and punitive behavior were the corner stones of true love (i.e., JKR's R/Hr). Since this is what she's done with the story, I'm especially appreciative of your efforts to right such grievous wrongs. I too will be considering this little one-shot the epilogue to Book 7. No matter how she tries to sell it, H/G and R/Hr will never sit right with me. H/Hr, most definitely are meant to last. Thanks for sharing this. |
Author Feedback: Yeah just a tiny bit of angst at the beginning talking about Hagird's death...but very little. Angst is ok but that is all that people seem to be writting right now. Must be the winter thing, not enough sunlight.
I agree on the relationship stuff, let us be delusional if thats what it takes to make our stand. Exactly....meant to last.

I read your review replies, one of them mentioning that the actress who plays Hermione should bail now. I did read somewhere after HBP that she might not play Hermione anymore. She has not signed up for the last two books like the ones playing Harry and Ron. |
Author Feedback: If I was her I wouldn't want to be trapped into a kissing scene with the actor who plays Ron either it would probably be terribly awkward and squiggy to watch too.
Just a casual observation, but in the POA and GOF movies every awkward or cute potential R/Hr scene was really bland and neither of them seemed to mean it. It might cause some issues in the later movies, but as far as I know she is doing HBP and if she does that she'll do DH. JK Rowling was the one who messed it all up by how she wrote the books to have that question crop up. She could have made it unequivocally R/Hr or H/Hr and shippers wouldn't have that problem....but she had to be cute with it and then bash the people who read her books. The interview with the R/Hr shippers at mugglenet was a farce and poorly done.
I love reading old interviews and every reporter asks...so when are Harry and Hermione getting together and Rowling will act surprised by it and then say something along the lines of "don't you mean Ron and Hermione?" Maybe that should have sent her a clue and she could have done something about it. But no write a book to show one thing and then do another...you won't have people complain about that....right.

Author Feedback: I don't even care about canon romance any more. I'd like to see who dies in book 7 and how it happens...but aside from that I don't care. If Rowling intended on R/Hr the entire way than she did a shite job of it. But we shall see if justice is on our side in July...although my hope is very low.

I really wish this will be the truth. That all the foulplay and trickery will be explained as we have deduced it... unfortunatley as much as this story lifts my spirits and makes me anticipate the next book, i feel the day will be celeberated by mugglnet once again.
There are damning conlcusions of lovepotion use by ginny, for godsake i just hope hermione didn't endorse it...(why her avid interest in fred 'n' george's joke shop?)

Author Feedback: I don't think Hermione endorsed it if it happened, because she did warn him about other girls having love potions. It doesn't seem like something Hermione would allow even if she didn't like Harry as a romantic interest and knew that Ginny did.
I could care less what JKR writes for romance in book 7....she bollixed it up from book 5 and on and if R/Hr shippers have their day so be it. I've relegated myself to slim odds on this boat for a long time.

I enjoyed this a lot. It would be a nice epilogue for Book 6 if 7 is a dud, but in that case I might ignore books 6 and 7 altogether and just read fanfics that start from OotP.
I still have a faint hope that H/Hr will happen by the end of Deathly Hallows, but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps the best we can realistically hope for is that R/Hr and H/G will both break up, leaving a clean slate to imagine what happens after. I'll always be convinced that H/Hr was the original intention, everything in Books 1-5 just screams it. I think JKR chichened out; she gave in to the more numerous R/Hr shippers and lost faith in her ability to write a Harry/Hermione romance convincingly. Perhaps that's why HBP seems half finished. It not that it's just half a story to be continued in Deathly Hallows; it lacks the detail and sparkle of the other books. |
Author Feedback: I have to wonder why she would go about changing mid-stream like that. For one thing, I think H/Hr would go ever tremendously better in the movies....the actor who plays Ron has no chemistry with the actress who plays Hermione. Perhaps when they get to HBP that might be an issue or the director might just decide to avoid romance altogether. Honestly, the girl who plays Ginny doesn't strike me as the type to pull of the best looking and most popular in school...she would be outshined by Hermione in a heartbeat. Maybe the actress playing Hermione should just bail now...
Yes Books 1-5 paint H/Hr as being much closer than R/Hr ever was...even in HBP. Heck even book 6 H/Hr flirt a little and have some good moments that R/Hr never really do. You see they have patched up their friendship by the end of the story but a romance....I guess still don't see it.

Thank you so much for this fic. I still firmly believe that Harry and Hermione will be together. All that bickering between Ron and Hermione - I used to do that with one of my male friends (who liked me) to show another guy in our group (who I fancied) that I really did not reciprocate guy #1's feelings. I think Hermione fancies Harry in some way but is not blatant about it like the other girls (I could go on and on about this)  I really needed to read this story...a much-welcomed break from angst, like you said |

There is a reason I like post hogwarts stories, they give room to fix mistakes of canon. Not only the HP/GW, RW/HG ships seem wrong to me, but there are so many things that don't make sense from book 1 to 6.
The stories you have written and are writing address to some of these things, mainly the way Harry should have behave from book 4 on.

Author Feedback: HP/GW is too far from left field to really make sense....JKR said Ginny has had her journey and yet no one knows what it is......that seems a bit flawed to have such a character been the love interest for the main character.
I've always thought Rowling favors Ron in almost everything since OOTP. But, then again that's just me...you can only wonder why she is surprised when their is a backlash against it. Same thing with Ginny in HBP...lets make all Weasleys exceptionally talented....bah right.

I only wish it would end like this....maybe I will take this epilogue of yours as being mine as well. I just cant shake this felling that Ron will get all his dreams, on the back and suffering of Harry's life. While Harry dies, Ron and Hermione (if they survive) will inherit every thing...Ron get the girl, the fortune and the blasted fame he always wanted.....If it happens this way...the books should have been called "How Ronald Weasley got every wish he ever had on while doing nothing." A bitter rant, but its just like that...It was supposed to Harry got his wishes and not Ron....lets forget the rant now.
This was quite a good read, there are some points that I would love to see JK confront with her stupid "anvil sized hints" comment....I would like to see her face if she confronted the oh so many JUMBO sized hints she left for a possible H&Hr relationship....Im ranting again....oh well...Hoping to see more of your other universes as soon as possible! Author Feedback: I don't really know. I've moved on from my stage of Ron hating...but what I don't get is that JKR never has Ron actually apologizing for the things he does bad....no one apologizes in the series really!
If Ron gets everything he always wanted then trust me fanfic will retalliate....why can't more than one person get a happy ending. I still think Harry and Hermione are the two main characters of the series. Look at HBP...the main crux of the story was Hermione's actions and Harry's actions...it's that way in every book...aside from that brief period in COS when she was petrified.
JKR has her anvils I have symmetry, rational thought, and logic...to each their own.
