This was so very lovely. You take a normal bit of life and make it so beautiful. It is extremely well written, your sentences flow and are so descriptive. Within such a short framework, you put so much information. I love so many little touches - the wilting yellow rose, Crookshanks on his feet, his hand slowly working out the tangles in her hand - and these little things truly 'make' the story.

Just lovely how he understands her and comforts her frustration, how he grounds her and appreciates her. |
Author Feedback: That’s the best part about HHr, isn’t it? Thank you! |

It's lovely. More than anything, I love that it's just a glimpse of everyday life. Nothing tragic or dramatic... just life, happening. And, as always, you and your way with words amazes me.
"And through the changing seasons, him, his scent never named, never defined, but always there, potpourri of endless hours spent together, years spent loving." |
Author Feedback: I aim to please, dear lady Thanks B!

Hey Ama!
Lessee...beautiful as always and I do remember this one, though only vaguely. As for review, I think each and every sentance is lovely, though I was struck by how...over-rich it seemed since there was so much description and so little dialogue. It's like chocolate, in a way. You can have too much--chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, sprinkled with chocolate shavings, sitting in a bed of white chocolate drizzle and on and on and on. One bite is good, but to eat a whole slice is somewhat overwhelming. Do you get what I mean? All I guess it needs is a good glass of milk interspersed between the bites of chocolate. Now whether that milk is dialogue, action, or whatever, I think it would benefit future pieces like this to incorporate something along those lines.
I do really like this and think you've yet again captured beautifully the spirit of H/Hr in a simple little moment. Most authors would gloss over a "inconsequential" scene like this whereas you take what others consider a shabby rug and turn it into a tapestry that we all sit back and wonder at its combined beauty and simplicity.
Thanks for re-sharing this, Ama. Even if I've seen it before, it's well worth it's while to read again. I don't like forgetting about stuff like this. It's inspiring. Thanks!!! |
Author Feedback: Hey! you're absolutely right of course, as usual, re the too sweet-ness. I was hoping the length (or lack of it) of the story would help/relieve that. But yeah, I'll keep in mind to sprinkle some milk next time
Fanks, as always! Hope all's well... |

Short and sweet, and in the slightly fluffy kind of way too. Honestly, you always do good work. |
Author Feedback: Why thank you! |

::le sigh:: Just the way we like it. Very sweet. Slightly suggestive. Roses and kisses are always a provocative image. ^_^
You never disappoint. |
Author Feedback: Ahhh, you think waaaay too highly of me Thank you very much for stopping by.

I was overjoyed to see that you had submitted a new story.
Your careful use of the language is so very impressive. You have a wonderful gift to relay emotion and imagery with the most lyrical and poetic phrases yet it doesn't come across as forced or overdone. It's just so damn impressive; you make it look so easy.
Thank you for sharing this, it's truly appreciated! |
Author Feedback: I think I've said this waay too often but I'm always grateful when people mention the 'not forced and overdone' part. It's always something I worry about. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed.

Well, somehow I managed to miss this on your journal, Ama, but no matter. I loved it. You're so good at capturing these little moments between Harry and Hermione -- these tiny slices of life that really illustrate the core of their relationship. Brava again. |
Author Feedback: Thank you, Anne! I'm glad you found it finally and gladder you enjoyed it. The 'little' moments of HHr are always a joy to write because they're such big characters and not enough is ever said about the rest. Thanks again! |

"And that night, having run out of ways to comfort her, so undone and vulnerable against her sharpest defining trait and her deepest insecurity, he’d kissed her for the first time."
I think that perfectly encapsulates Harry and Hermione's relationship. Beautifully written!
Thank You. |

Goodness, I love this! You capture the amazing connection between Harry and Hermione so well, and it's a joy to read.
"Inside, the house smells of fresh linen drunk with sun and wind."
That line is made of awesome. You give your readers so many details that just pull us into the scene.
Wonderful work, A!

very sweet and simple little piece, its quite a soothing, calm bit of scenes. excellent job! |
Author Feedback: "Soothing" was the aim: I wrote this when I wasn't feel all that great myself, and felt better once I was done. Thanks! |
