I still can't believe that JKR could imagine Hermione fancying Ron after he abandoned them for a meal!
It's funny that even JKR can't write an actual romantic scene between Ron and Hermione - just a kiss when Ron mentions that house elves shouldn't have to die for them. He didn't even say slavery was wrong. He just thinks they should be serving food instead of dying. Why didn't Hermione snog Harry senseless after he buried Dobby if that's all it took? I suppose it was the first time Ron showed an iota of respect for one of Hermione's ideas, so it was an historic occasion. I really hate that Ron had to read a book to find out how to treat Hermione decently. It should've come from his heart if he loved her so much!

I thought I'd check out some familiar names and read their fics - and being lazy I selected this one-shot with the "can't pass it up" name. Taking on JKR here...very brave. I'm not convinced by your logic, but I don't think that was the intent - just believe and enjoy, right? I thought it was "sweet" and I think Harry would love to have been someone's first kiss - I can see him thinking about sharing his knowlege with Hermione, what guy wouldn't? And then Hermione taking over is totally cannon, so good job!

Exactly! I think you’re right. I’ve read the theories you wrote about in this fiction and I think there’s a very good chance of them being right. I too think Ron never had romantic feelings for Hermione. And I too think that Hermione has been in love with Harry for a couple of years now. And I too think that Harry has never given himself the chance to think about what he feels for Hermione because he thought that Ron and Hermione liked each other that way. And I too think that the love that I think Harry and Hermione will find with each other will be crucial to the defeat of Voldemort and (hopefully) Harry’s (and Hemione’s) survival. Well, we’ll know by the 21st of July what we were right about and what we got wrong, won’t we? Until then we can still hope and continue theorising. And in the meantime: thank you for writing this fic, it was really nice to see those theories used in a fanfiction.
