I'd never seen this story before today, and I really liked it. You've done Ron and Luna really good together. And you did a nice job with their kids, I know I find it really hard to write kids into the story and make it good.
I think Robin is in need of a few faults, a maybe Harry is too. Although maybe that's later to come? Harry seems a little too perfect. I would have thought Hermione would have realized she Harry by now, but I guess after that dream it won't be long now.
Anyway, hoping to see this story on the Updated List again soon! |
Author Feedback: Dear Luzie,
Thanks so much for taking the time to read & review! I am glad you're liking it so far!
I really enjoyed writing Ron & Luna -- Luna's really the spice of their relationship, she was fun! And, I have to admit -- Louie & Janie are kind of a combination of my nephews, Joseph & Nathan. I don't have much experience with kids, otherwise...
Don't worry about Robin & Harry -- they'll sort themselves out before long!
Thanks again! |

Happy to see this good story still going. Good job!
I like it, my personal favourite scene (aside from all H/Hr ones) being the dinner with Ron and Luna. And I can't get enough Crookshanks.
I don't love it, mainly because of the Robin character. Yes, he's a good guy, and Hermione deserves genuine affection, but my trouble with OCs is that they take the spotlight off the 'real' protagonists we all know and love... That and Robin is custom-tailored to court Hermione, perhaps you made him too good a match?
A few more random thoughts:
Now that Harry and Hermione meet sparsely, and their life and jobs take different directions, it really seems Robin makes an all-around better partner for Hermione, than Harry is. Yet, more page space for Robin than for Harry, is a huge turn down, at least to this reader...
I'm perplexed by how Harry and Hermione seem seriously clueless about their feelings. Aren't they too naive for their age? For example, Hermione seemed devastated by the news of Harry's impending marriage but still hasn't thought of the reason why. And why would Harry marry Ginny if their relationship isn't going well?
I got the feeling the Trio isn't as close as it used to be. Harry and Hermione still read each other well, but both are unwilling to confide to the other about their sentimental life. And while Ron had doubts about Harry's situation (his wonderful "the poor bastard" line), he chose to keep them to himself.
And then there are Hermione's weird dreams about Viktor - Robin - Harry and that brief mention of rituals and memory extractions performed to defeat Voldemort. They made me wonder if you've been dropping hints about past events, or I should take things more at face value.
Here's hoping we read the next part soon!

Author Feedback: Hey, Giringiro!
Thank you for taking the time to let me hear your comments! It's not a usual occurence that I really get to hear what my readers are thinking. And, I'm glad you like it!
I'm sorry that you're not a fan of Robin -- I've been getting lots of feedback on him, and it's mixed in general... I like him because of what he does for Hermione -- he appreciates her and has really stepped back into her life at the opportune moment. I mean that in the sense that Hermione is able to stop thinking about her lonliness because now she's potentially not going to end up alone & prematurely grey. He definitely serves a purpose in this story, and that is to better explore where Hermione's thinking is--because this story's about her, let's face it. At this point, postbellum, we see the Trio going about their own lives, and at this point, they're going in different directions. Ron's got his family (as always). Hermione, her career, and Harry's still trying to save the world (which sounds so contrite & Ginny-like, actually.) Harry's busy doing what he thinks is the right thing to do. These things, at this point, seem to indicate that they don't have time, or they're not as close, but you still see Harry sending Mione owls, visiting her work, and soliciting her opinion. They may not be in each other's -physical- company, but they are on each other's minds. A bit, quite a bit.
Do you really think that Harry not seeing the nose on his face is out of canon? We don't have any kind of mention of Harry remotely -thinking- about Hermione like that unless someone else brings it up, like Krum did in GoF, or in the Book-That-Must-Not-Be-Named, how supposedly an only child thinks of her like his sister...(bored sigh. Original, JKR, really original. Doesn't that just scream StarWars to you?) I think that Harry's spent such a long time of his life doing what is expected of him -- fighting evil, and then, after Ddore died, picking up part of his mantle, too... People expect him & Ginny to wed. It makes "sense." It's not going to stay that way, but for now, that's the status quo. Status quo is what Harry likes -- remember that he never wanted to fight with Ron, even when Ron was wrong -- it's the same here.
Ron's doubts about the situation stem more from his baby sister and her tantrums than his best mate -- Harry marrying a Weasley won't make him one if he already practially is...
So! Wow -- this is quite the reply, but you've definitely got me on my soap box! I hope you continue to read -- don't let the OC get you down... Remember, I gave the ending away in Chapter One: Pairings: H/Hr & R/L. Doesn't get any easier than that. Sit back and enjoy the ride!

Yay! I\'m so excited that this story is back. To be honest I had forgotten about it so I\'m glad that you have taken a break but are ready to come back to it. I\'m really confused about the whole dream scene and then hermione being confused about how it happened and such so I\'m sure there is more to that. Also, I\'m not sure if we are supposed to like/trust robin so I\'m waiting for more info there. Can\'t wait to see how this all plays out so that in the end it is h/h. Update soon! |
Author Feedback: Hey there! Thanks for your review!
Hermione's really confused, too -- there's so much going on in her life that adding a boyfriend to the mix probably isn't going to make things simpler...And then there's this whole "Here, Mione, please take care of my business while I'm away" business, and it's really grating on her nerves ... perhaps for the wrong reasons? So, you're not alone -- Don't worry -- you know it'll be alright in the end!

hey this is a really good story so far. It\'s like hermione isn\'t just going to sit around and let life pass her by. good for her, she deservess better.
1 thing though, I don\'t think portkey allows harry or hermione to do...certain stuff... with another character so please be careful about wht she and robin get up to, even if hermione REALLY needs it, if you know what i mean. i\'d hate to not have this on portkey b/c it\'s really a winner of a story.
i want to read more so please update soon. love the story!!!! |
Author Feedback: Thank you so much for reviewing! I am so glad you liked it! Hermione really deserves the best, doesn't she? I almost think the series could have been called The Hermione Jane Adventures -- she's so integral...
I'll have to review those rules -- I've been a PK member for an age, but I definitely don't want to cross those lines... Rest assured, Hermione just wants some sleep ... Maybe.
I hope you stick around and review as the story progresses! I am glad to know what you think!

the idea of hermione with anyone else is repulsive to me. H/hr is a very powerful ship and i try to be open about this robin character but i just can't like him. Harry has had too much crap in his life to get shoved aside in a sense by some random guy. I understan he has ginny atm, but we all genuinely know that is a joke of a ship. I can see hermione will be with robin for a time but i am not going to like it. And i do tire of a clueless harry that kind of paints him in a bad light. I'm a total harry backer more then anything and these hr/oc parts just sicken me out. Harry deserves the best(hermione) without having to fight some other guy for her. |
Author Feedback: Dude, hang tight. Half the point of the finish line is the journey to get there. I am completely aware of Portkey being a Harmonian site -- as if I would read or write anything else.
I think you're missing out on the story from the conclusions you're drawing, but hey -- I can't be all things for all seasons. I hope you'll hang around and see how this gets concluded.

I'm absolutely tickled you address me by name,
Of course people will remember your stories, they're memorable!! And don't worry too much, you're not bad, just slow *teases*
I'm really glad that you're persevering even after DH. It truly was a disappointment, I cried bitter tears stephanie. BITTER TEARS.
I was also wondering, do you have an LJ? There is a HUMONGOUS HP fanbase, along with cracktastic pairings, including our own beloved HHr. You should give a holler if you do go to LJ at some point - unless you've already discovered it
Take care hon! And push push push that writing please!!

Author Feedback: Ahh -- things like names stick with me. I think I saw the thread you started for this, and naturally, I investigated. And, well, you're a consistent reviewer, so I remember you.
In DH, I couldn't get past Lupin and Harry fighting (when I read the carpet book) and then in the copy I actually gave JKR $17 of my hard-earned money... (which apparently is losing value as we speak!) I think I got to the point where Ron gives Harry the "how to get chicks" book. Oh! What a travesty! I couldn't go on. I cried and cried in HBP, because I thought JKR was being sneaky, when in fact, she was just turning mediocre. That book made me so mad that I threw it, and broke the binding. I've worked in a library for 5 years, and that was a really low point for me. I love books more than anything.
I actually -do- have an LJ. Funnily enough, I got it just this month to read more Doctor Who fanfiction. I've not ventured onto the HP stuff yet -- I am kind of afraid of stepping out of "safe waters" what with Portkey's safe harbors. You can friend me at trustme1013, though. Lol, I think I have two friends. And, it's a miserable page.
Again, Melissa, thanks so much for reading. I am absolutely pleased you like it!

Oh goody! Another fabulous story to read. I like how you are building the plot slowly but steadily, with hints here and there. I want to like Robin but I gather there is more than meets the eye with him and it isn't good.
The ring ceremony was interesting and I'm not sure of its significance in the story yet. It should be interesting. I look forward to more of your story. |
Author Feedback: Gak!
Thanks so much for reading! I am glad you're enjoying it! There's so much to tell with this story -- so many companion pieces I want to do ... I guess that's where all the details are coming in!
You should like Robin -- he's a nice guy. Hermione likes nice guys--she likes Robin, so you should like him too...
Or should you?
Mwahahah!
Seriously, though -- doesn't she have enough drama without having some psycho for a boyfriend?
Thanks for reading -- I hope you stick around!

OH goodness, I hope you update sooner. Great update. I just loved it. So many things to look forward to!!! I was almost completely clueless as to where Hermione was going to go but...ha, cool.
The 'hot sex' line really had me laughing
Write more soon please!!

P.S. Just reread the chapter (yes, it's that good) and was wondering if we'll be seeing Harry at all throughout the bulk of the story, or if he will remain in the background and let Hermione (and her story) take center stage? No problem with either, but just curious. Also, if the answer should be a spoiler for future chapters, feel free to tell me to bugger off and wait to read it myself.
Thanks. |
Author Feedback: Yes... and no...
I am totally humbled that you read it twice. I could barely get through it last night after I got it back from my beta... (Though, granted, I've been reading it over and over for months now... sigh!)
I'll keep what you said in mind! |

Completely thrilled to read an update to this story. You've done a great job laying out where Hermione stands emotionally. I do admit to being one of those types who loaths seeing Hermione with anyone so I'm trying to be open minded about Robin, he seems a good chap.
I've mentioned before that it seems you have quite a challenge ahead in that you've got to get Ginny and Harry apart, get Hermione and Robin apart (who seems ideal for Hermione and genuinely seems fond of her), and then get Hermione and Harry together. Normally, this isn't much of a problem, but as I said, as much as I dislike the idea of him, Robin seems to be good for Hermione. Can't wait to see how you accomplish all of this, though I have faith that no matter what you write it will be worthwhile and entertaining.
I agree with you that AU can be more fun. As I see it, now that the canon series has ended, fanfic authors can write anything without having to worry about how the next book will effect their story. Anything is possible now. I did read DH and enjoyed because I was able to suspend my H/Hr belief for the sake of reading it (knowing I would have Portkey to fall back on after I finished it). It was an enjoyable and thrilling story and there were certainly parts in which we saw the Harry and Hermione of old; unfotunately those scenes were few and far between. But it was still a good read.
I just realized I've been rambling so I'll stop now. Sorry for that.
Anyway, great story, I'm loving what you are doing with it; even when you are challenging my belief that Hermione could be happy with someone else I'm enjoying it. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing; this is a first class story and I'm genuinely thankful that you have chosen to share it with us as I've been greatly entertained thus far. |
Author Feedback: Tank...Wow. Just wow.
Thank you so much for your review. I am absolutely chuffed that you like it so much. I've been trudging with this chapter for literal months because of DH and my general feeling of betrayal from JKR... I love this story, and I know it's worth finishing, so I am definitely still committed to seeing it through.
Hermione really is kind of messed up, isn't she? She's being pulled on at each end by people that need her: Harry, Tonks & Lupin, Crookshanks, & Robin ... She doesn't really have time for herself, and it's starting to wear on her. Add to that the fact that she's finally got this smashing boyfriend, and she's dreaming about her best friend instead!!
I definitely have the transition of Harry's affection (what affection? Have we even seen them together? That's telling, isn't it?) of Ginny to Hermione as well as Hermione to Harry from Robin planned out, and I think it's plausible, but time will tell! You know -- Robin is really good for Hermione. He values her and shows it more than other people have lately, and that's actually pretty tough to get rid of ... but ... he'll get over it.
Do you -really- think that Hermione could be completely happy with someone else looking after Harry's welfare? I certainly don't. I still wonder what Hermione saw during her end-of-term Boggart-DADA exam... I don't think it was her failing everything...
Thank you so much for your kind comments. I am so pleased you like it!
