Yes HBP seemed a departure for this reason also. I mean come on, confunding McLaggen no matter how much she disliked the guy doesn't sit kosher with me based upon her previous characterizations. It is far too petty just like the canary bit. That's not hormones, it is bi-polar disorder. Rowling...what did you do in HBP?

You've managed to make all of the characters rather unlikable to this point. Harry as a whiny stupid git. Ron as a jerk through and through. Hermione as an overly emotional and irrational girly girl.

I am hoping next chapter will tie things together.

Eeven better he is taking adavantage of Hermione when he knows she likes Harry....hmm this is all really strange and confusing.
