they're not really pronounced the same either. the 'e' in decent is long and in descent it's short... wow i sound like a teacher.
anyway, i'm not being picky - really! i just noticed b/c i was reading your summary and the word is used incorrectly... and since the summary is usually the first impression a reader will get of your story, it ought to be top-notch with no mistakes.
