Very nicely done with beginning to put a bit of distance between Harry and Hermione. I especially liked that she felt out of place and of no use to him, setting up their estrangement that we too painfully witnessed.

I really like your interpretation of Hermione, Anne. Looking to see more.
Author Feedback: Thank you. There's a lot more to come, whenever I manage to get around to it. I do need to get back to my poor, neglected WIP... Thanks again.

... I'm terrified that if I continue to let myself feel this way about you, my heart will end up in a million pieces. It won't be your fault, but it will happen anyway.

What are you trying to do to me, woman?

After everything that has happened in the past few days, how can you now make me feel *guilty* about my seeming infatuation and delusion with HP and JKR? This was how I felt when the spoilers started coming out... and when the interview happened, my heart felt as if it *were* in a million pieces.

Except that there was you and everyone else around, a hundred or a thousand Hermiones, helping me put my broken heart back together again.

A beautiful work, Anne... absolutely beautiful.

And, a wonderful way to help us rebuild our broken hearts.

Thank you.

From the deepest part of my heart,

Thank you.

Author Feedback: I'm so glad you're enjoying this, Gil. Hermione has been my muse for as long as I've been writing HP fan fic (a little over 2 years now). The way JKR mutilated her personality and characterization in HBP broke *my* heart. This is my attempt to regain the Hermione I knew and loved for the first 5 books. Thanks so much for commenting.

This fic continues to be excellent. I really like the Hermione perspective and can't wait to read more. Keep up the good work!

Hi Anne-

Again so well written with the maturity of a 17 year old. Sad that Rowling couldn't do that in cannon, but I really don't care as cannon has let nothing except a cheesy romance plot with underdeveloped characters and all Dumbledore's diginity stripped and the all the other major characters acting like 10 year olds. Here I am ranting again, must get past that and your stories help. Hope you will finish Unbridge. Dis you notice that Rowling developed Umbrige in book 5 more than she developed Ginny in all the books. Keep up the wonderful writings
Author Feedback: Thank you! I was hoping that Hermione sounded more like her previously mature self here, so maybe I did that properly. I do plan to finish UMBRAGE, though who knows when...thanks again for being a faithful reviewer. I do appreciate it so much.

Very nicely worded. Things are progressing, but I'd like to see some more reaction to any feedback from harry included in these letters.

Keep up the good work
Author Feedback: Thanks for reviewing. Actually Harry doesn't see any of these letters for a very long time. That's why it's called Letters She NEVER Sent. After this letter, the story basically turns into a diary. I hope that doesn't disappoint you too much. I think that if Harry and Hermione actually had TALKED in HBP, the way they used to, a lot of things might have happened differently (though perhaps not, given JKR's Grand Plan - UGH!!). Thanks again for commenting.

Very interesting letter! I really hope to read more soon!!! I can't wait to read how you explain how Hermione acted in HBP, because she was so totallu not herself in that book, even as a friend towards Harry, that it's like she is a different person. Please update soon!!
Author Feedback: Thank you. I'll be updating today.

I was hoping that HBP would have started out a little more like that. I mean she didn't address Hermione's injury at all. It's like it never happened. This is a great letter and I can't wait to read the next. Thank You for keeping the faith and writing about what we all love so much.
Author Feedback: JKR didn't address Hermione's injuries, or Ron's, at all. And she forgot all about Harry's overwhelming feelings of panic in the DoM after Hermione was injured. It was like they never happened. I will try to post the next part soon (though I should probably write it first... Thanks again.

Anne- just love your writing and this story. I really think there is no "logical" way to explain Hermione's "out-of-character" actions. Rowling cannot explain them satisfactoryly Rowling is too tunnel visioned with her plot lineto realize what she has created between Harry & Hermione, it didn't follw Rowling plot line she planned out over 15 years ago and apparently never updated with the mauturity of her readers. She has grossly underestimated the sophistication of her readers and I think this will come back to haunt her. I also agree with you that book 6(the book that cannot be believed) was written as though book 5 never existed. Also I find it ironic that now Harry Potter's physical appearance looks just like Daniel Radcliff, this was pointed out to my by one of my young readers. I think Rowling has gotten swept up the her fame and with Hollywood's artistic license with her characters and has lost her perspective on very characters she created. I am not even against the Harry/Ginny ship, its just that Ginny was barely a character in book 1-5 and then she is "Super Witch" and from her interviews, I think Rowling is confusing Hermione with Ginny and has lost control over all her characters and does not have the skills to redevelop them properly to fit a plot line developed over 15 years ago(did she not think her readers were going to mature along with the characters) was to write them down. Rowling's interviews show me that she is not the brilliant writer we all thought she was and lacks the skills to successfully write a series of books that grows with the age of her characters. If she wanted to write a "shallow' and pridictable story, why all the character development in books 1-5 and only to destroy the developed characters for one that never had much development to begin with? Also did I miss somewhere in the books that Hermione liked Ron, all I ever read were Ron's constant insults and belittling of Hermione. If she had planned for the Harry/Ginny ship, why wasn't there character development for Ginny? Again I don't think Rowlings has the skills to write young adult stories.I don't think book 7 will be any better and problely will not waste my time reading it. Anne keep witing your wonderful stories it keep my faith that there are wonderful writer out there and to the benefit of our young readers. Again sorry for the rant.
than 6 as she has already told us. If she thinks young sophisticated readers will love the "old plot "Hero falls madly in love with the beautiful young sister of his best friend" she has sadly underestimated her readers and I feel this will come back to haunt her.
Author Feedback: Well, I can't disagree with anything you've said here... and this might be the first time that a review is longer than the chapter or story being reviewed! Just kidding, but I'm sure you noticed that Hermione's first letter was about, oh, maybe one-fifth as long as a typical chapter from me. I'm going to have to drag the next letter out so that it's longer than the combined reviews.. Thanks again for commenting. See, writing this stuff really IS cathartic and, apparently, so is reading it

Very nice story. Exactly what we would have expected after OotP, but instead we got hit on the head with the Book-ThatMust-Not-Be-Named. Long live fanfic!
Author Feedback: Fan-fic is our friend I'm glad you're enjoying this so far. The "epistolary style" (letter writing) is very different for me, especially writing from just one POV. I hope I can get the rest of it to work

Wow, has Hermione been talking to some of the H/Hr fans of late? What she's saying sounds remarkably like some of the reasons I've heard to justify their/our shipping position.

I like the reason why she didn't hug Harry at Kings Cross - good one.

Looking forward to letters written during sixth year that might explain the unexplainable!
Author Feedback: This is the REAL Hermione talking (from books 1-5), not Hitovertheheadwiththecrazyhammer!Hermione from The Book That Shall Not Be Named. I have the feeling Hermione will write a fair few letters, even if Harry doesn't see them for a very long time. Thanks again.

Great start. I would love it if you were able to resolve the Hermione we know with the Hermione in HBP. Please keep up the good work!
Author Feedback: I will try desperately to resolve the HORRORmione of HBP with the Hermione we knew and loved before then. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I completely forgot about the brain attack...yet another loose end. I agree its almost as if you could drop it... HBP would make more sense.

Lovely chapter and I really think this new story is a good idea. I look forward to see where you go with this.
Author Feedback: Oh, there are about 2347502 loose ends from OotP that JKR didn't find important enough to resolve in HBP, which is part of why so much of that book seemed like total nonsense. I'm looking forward to finding out where this story is going too... Thanks for reviewing.
