oh my gosh. this was absolutely incredible! I hope you entered it in the contest! I cringe to think of how things are going to be next year, when Harry and Hermione and Ron are facing Voldemort alone. You captured the desperation that Hermione must be feeling very well, and also Ron's "I'll worry about it when I worry about it" attitude. I truly enjoyed reading this. Thanks so much.

Yes, it is angsty--but I came out of this smiling. I could see a scene like this happening in (an intelligent, well-written version of) book 7. This is just as an inside look at Hermione's head should be written. Nice job. |

I was a little worried, actually, that people might not understand the reason I wrote this in the first place - to show that despite how much Hermione has changed in HBP and how much darker the world will be with the war, Harry himself knows that some things (like her birthday) can't be forgotten.
