I hated it and loved it at the same time...it takes a good author to do that. I always want h/hr to be that "perfect couple," but if they ever had a disagreement, I hope this is what it would be like. good story |

I've missed your writing, dear Azure. So, I'm reading this again.
A few years back, there was a Japanese manga cartoon shown on TV that I liked called Vandread. It was about aliens living in spaceships floating in strange universe. During Christmas, they had to artificially create their own snow. That year, they failed to create snow due to some technological failure. The girl Dita was so disappointed. Dita liked the alien boy, Hibiki. Hibiki and several others went out into space to try to create snow using the atmosphere but things went wrong and everybody thought they died in space. On Christmas day, suddenly the sky went bright and there it was - a giant ice block in the shape of a christmas tree in space seen by Dita and the other Dreads from their spaceship. And suddenly, those they thought had died came back, including Hibiki. Dita rushed to Hibiki, glad that he was alive, and before he passed out, he put up his hand to her and said, 'This is for you.' Dita opened his palm and found a tiny white flower encased in ice in Hibiki's palm. It was the rarest thing since plants were rare in their universe.
The scene was so sweet and it pops back into my memory when I read this story, the part when Harry gave Hermione her birthday present. Maybe it was the mood that reminds me too - how worried and sad Dita was about Hibiki, and the same feelings mirrored by Hermione for Harry in this story.

Vandread, hmm? Can't say it rings any bells, though I may just have to check out this particular episode you wrote about. It sounds like a very good episode, now that I read it again, and I can definitely see the similarities you mentioned between that story and mine. I'll have to see if I can track it down.

One moment I was laughing my head off reading your Book 6 parody (that story about Harry and the cape thing), next you have managed to grab hold of my heart and squeeze until I feel it lodges somewhere in my throat. That's what you make me feel reading this story.
It is so simple. It is so sweet. It is so touching. And totally within character. It's real.

I'm very pleased this came across as being so simple and real - as that was the original intention I had when I sat down to write it. To be honest, I don't read very many H/Hr fics any longer, as a good majority of them have storylines or certain quirks that just don't seem plausible (yes, yes, I know, we have MAGIC!), so it does my heart well to read that I can pen something a little bit different from most.

Wow. I kept wishing that the fic would last longer; I hope something like this happens in Book Seven.
It made me smile when Harry got up so early to get Hermione a present, when, even towards the end, Ron is still sleeping happily.

Oh. I got all choked up there. This is the first fanfiction that I read (aside from Lori's fics. I ugh, have a weird reason why didn't start reading fanfics so soon...) after being emotionally battered by HBP. I love how beautifully simple this story is and how so very achingly Harry and Hermione. Ahhh... now, I feel so much better and I'm ready to read fics again!
