Ahhhh....what lovely, warm, angsty fluff! While it has certainly been done before, I like your take on Harry and Hermione at Christmas time.

'She really did not need him anymore. Maybe she never did. Maybe it was always him who needed her. His eyes fell and his heart went with them. He let her hand go and turned to walk away.'

Oh, that passage got me. Poor Harry...goodness, but he does get beat up a bit. As you noted in the story, Harry is a glutton for punishment. I really like how you had Harry just come out and state that he still needs Hermione, even though Voldemort is gone and the world is back to "normal". A bit of that Gryffindor courage / Potter resolve shining through his bleakness. Thank you for sharing and happy holidays!
