'James, who is unsure of how to express his feelings for Lily, asks Remus to do it for him by writing a love letter to her. Remus agrees and ends up pouring out his heart and soul to the girl he knows will never be his. ' great intro.
'It was enough.' great ending.
'Dear Lily,
Words can’t express how I feel about
you, but I’m going to try anyway. From
the moment I met you, I konew that you
were honest and good. Your soul is as
clean and pure as an angel’s tears. You
made me want to change for the better.
You made me look inside and see that
there were more important things in
life than my wants, my needs, and my
selfish desires. You’re a gift from the
gods. You’re my reason to live. I love
you more than I will ever be brave enough
to say.
Sometimes I look at you and I
wonder what it would be like to know
you. I mean, really know you, from the
inside out. I lie in bed at night and
close my eyes, thinking of your loving
face, and your kind smile. It warms
me, it fills me with joy.
No matter how dark and wicked the
world becomes, Lily, you are a ray of
hope. I carry your love inside me,
in that place no one can see but me,
and it sustains me. When life
becomes too hard I draw on the
love you give, and I know that I can
make it. You’re my source. When I
reach inside and do things I shouldn’t
be able to do, it’s because your love
strengthens me. I love you so much that
sometimes it hurts, but it is the sweetest
pain I will ever know. I wouldn’t trade
one moment of this pain for an eternity
of empty pleasure.
I love you, Lily.
Love,
James' great letter.
this is good. keep writing! |

one question, and i'd really appreciate it if you answered it: did remus, in ur mind for this story, ever get over lily???
just wondering. sweet letter. i've never been up for that mushy stuff (in stories it's great, but in real life? yeah, cuz guys write that...), but it would've been sweet.

Author Feedback: I got the inspiration for this fic after watching POA, and the way (David Thewlis) Lupin spoke of Lily. He really seemed to be carrying a torch for the woman, even though she'd been dead for 12 years. Based on the assumption he was in love with her, I'll have to say that I don't think Lupin ever got over her. He lost her too quickly, and from what I understand from Jo, James and Sirius suspected him of being a traitor, so he may have had some bad blood going on with James when Voldemort tried to kill Harry. I hate to think of James dying on bad terms with Lupin, or dying with the belief Lupin is the one who betrayed him and his family. I don't think Lily would have doubted Lupin's loyalty myself, from the way he talks about her in the movie (not canon, I know but still...), but if he wasn't getting along with James, then that could have made things strained between him and Lily too. But to answer your question honestly, no, I don't Lupin ever lost his love for Lily, and he loves her to this day. Thank you for writing in!

Oh, that was absolutely wonderful. I have a weak spot for Remus/Lily fics because if Lily hadn't married James, I could see her with Remus instead. It's heartbreaking how much he loves her and still supports her despite the fact that she doesn't love him in return. The letter was beautiful. It really did show how much Remus felt and James' reaction to it just angered me. He just seemed so casual about it. Remus poured his heart into that letter, and when he asked if James felt the same, he said "Sure." I mean, honestly, Lily would've been better off with someone as passionate as Remus anyway. But I'm glad that you wrote that she knew Remus wrote the letter. That makes me happy. When I read: “I love you too Remus. You’re my gift from the gods as well. Thank you.” I went: Lovely job. I'm adding this to my favorite stories because I absolutely adore it. |

Wow, that was really beautiful. I enjoyed it. Keep up the nice work. |

OMG!
That was beautiful!
I thought it was WAY cool Lily knew it was from him. That was a great twist that made the story amazing. |

I somehow missed this story when you first posted it, which was stupid of me, because it's really lovely.
You say that Remus had been angry and resentful when he found out that Lily has feelings for James. For one thing, I like angry Remus. He's so...mild sometimes, that I like it when he gets mad. But it's sad to me that he is well aware that he could have had a chance with Lily, but never acted on it. This seems so realistic and in character to me, especially when you go into the following paragraph about how he'd been afraid he'd hurt her. That sounds like him. It too sad that such a gentle, loving soul would be cursed like this.
And then the letter. I can imagine how it would be liberating to finally get to pour out his feelings to her, even though she's not supposed to know. That makes it all the sweeter.
One thing you really do well is that these boys are boys. Like Lily's NOT going to know that James didn't write this letter??? Do they think we're stupid? Guys might could be fooled that way, but not girls. Lily would know right off who had written it. James, being a guy, missed that detail.
And I was moved by Remus' settling for Lily's platonic love. The love of friends is precious, and Remus knows it, but it's not what he really wants. I hate for him to be alone. I need to get back to my fic about him, give him a girlfriend. See, you've inspired me.
This was sweet and sad, and utterly in character. Really well done, as usual!

that was fantastic! it was a great plot, and I am a full believer of Remus/Lily, of course, just before J/L...but yeah, it was well written, short and sweet |

OMG!!!!!!! That is just the sweetest, more heart breaking thing! I loved the bitter-sweet in it! I take it it is a one shoot, right?
I would like you to read my fanfiction and tell me what you think. Would you like to? I'm Rosali in the author list |

Woot!! This is more Lily/Remus than Lily/James, isn't it? Anyway, I loved it and all your fanfics. You're a great writer. |

That was beautiful. Again, you really capture Lily perfectly. She had the perfect answer to a situation I thought would end up as just unrequited love, but her love for Remus is enough. |

that was so sweet.
i feel so bad for remus its so cool |
