Absolutely magnificent story. I really enjoyed and was completely enthralled by the story. I read the first and saw the sequel and couldn't tear myself away until I finished. Your snippets of knowledgeable facts and location gave the story another depth that was truly great to read. I live in Dallas so it was a "Hey, looky looky I've been there!" Also, the way you described Emerson's anguish as well as the emotional responses of all of the characters made the story all the more poignant.

Well done indeed. Please write more stories!

"And frankly, Harry knew, it didn't get any better than this."
Great way to end this, and, frankly, the same can be said for this story. Great job in continuing to develop the kids' characters while creating a compelling and believable story. You're really a great writer; hope to get a chance to see more of your work in the future. The chapters in which Stella is apprehended and questioned were outstanding, and the solution Hermione developed to deal with her was really, really well-concceived and executed. Overall, great stuff, and thanks for a great read!

Just a quick review...

I read your epics "Safe in Harbor (Harbour? Yes, I'm a Britpicker! )" and this one, and I have had a very pleasurable couple of days, really. Liberal doses of angst, mixed in with fluff and smut is one way of putting it but the stories are much more than that, as I'm sure many reviewers have told you.

I think the first story I read of yours was "How Much" and it amused the hell out of me. I also found myself bursting into laughter with these stories, especially with Above it All. I loved all the Potter kids, and I don't usually read fanfic that predominantly features Potter offspring. Em is the sassy kind of kid I'd like to have one day, and I think that I'd be like Harry in wanting to kill any bloke who came near her...Ben who's got the best of 'em both, Luke/Budget and Vina the two little spitfires...and of course the couple themselves, who were beautifully written, and not Mary/Gary Stus by any stretch of the imagination...although I envy their sexual stamina. And of course, their deep abiding love.

With your depiction of Julia, I did agree with one of your reviewers that she seemed too perfect, until I realised that her main fault was that she was willing, even desperate, to give people a second chance and to believe in them. It was almost the undoing of everything she held dear, and I think her character was such a poignant contrast to Stella, and it was so tragic that she never found out how messed up Stella truly was. And of course, the bitch of the piece. In the end, I too felt sorry for her. I tend to sympathise with the villians more than I should because I believe they are that way for a damn good reason, and with Stella it was even harder to think of her as an evil unredeemable cow because of the tragic backstory you gave her and the circumstances of her miserable life. I take my hat off to you for inventing this plethora of characters and making them believable and loveable, and for distracting me for at least 3 days while I feverishly read to the end!!

Now, I'm starting on "Writing To Reach You." I look forward to letting you know what I think of it! And by the way, I notice you've written nothing since Half-Baked Prince came out. Are you planning on writing more or did that book make you want to stop writing like it did me? I hope you are planning more stories. I'm surprised that Above and Writing got so few reviews, when it's obvious that you write a well crafted, researched story that should appeal to most readers on PK. Hell, I don't read that much fluff and I'm raring to read more!!

Thanks for the stories..apologies for the rambling!
Author Feedback: Dude, that review made my day.

I truly appreciate all the reviews I've received (and continue to receive, some two years after the end of the story) and it's really neat to get feedback.

But, man, your review deserves some kind of award! Not to sound too weepy, but it really fills me up to know that someone can take away some enjoyment from my imagination! It's just incredibly gratifying. I'm so glad that you liked the characters, especially the kids, cause I've received a few comments like yours in that some reviewers tend to avoid stories with Potter offspring. But I'm glad that I was able to write Potterlets who are nevertheless appealing.

And about Julia -- you hit it right on the nose, but you said it way more eloquently than I had rationalized it. I just labeled her as being too stubborn for her own good. And I truly did sympathize with Stella, although not enough to spare her the agony at the end After all, she did deserve it, didn't she?

Regarding new stories -- not any time soon, if ever. Half-Baked Prince, as you aptly titled it, effectively murdered every iota of interest I'd had in the Harry Potter canon. I still appreciate most everything before HBP, but whenever I think about the series now, I can't help but recall how disgusted I felt reading the sixth book (and the author's attitude afterwards was equally nauseating). And as human beings our defense mechanism is to stay away from the things than make us feel yucky. Sadly, Harry Potter these days has that effect on me -- although if I'm in the right frame of mind, I can come on here and read fanfiction. But somehow I doubt that the frame will expand enough for me to actively imagine new shenanigans for Harry et. al. To that end, I'm immensely relieved that I made the effort to finish my trilogy before the book came out. I'm pretty sure if it were unfinished, and with the crap that was the sixth book, I'd have been driven nutso by now.

Love, love the long review, and thank you so much for taking the time to write it! It's very much appreciated, and I look forward to your feedback on the rest of your reading! Thanks muchly

Wow!!! I sat down and read this whole story in one sitting!!! I read the first one in the sequel yesterday and after I am done with this reveiw I am going to go read the next one!!! This is one of my favorite Harry/Hermione stories I have read in a really long time...and trust me...I have read a lot of them!!! I liked the twist you put on it and you didn't make Emerson,Harry, or Hermione out to be "perfect"...you made them seem human which made the story appeal even more to me!!! Good job on catching "real humans" and not making any of the characters out to be perfect!!! AWESOME JOB AGAIN!!!

Oh my god! That is the longest bloody story I've ever read!!! I [am still] in absolute love with your creation, but it could've been a little bit shorter. NOT A LOT!!!! Just, like the chapters could have been a tiny tiny bit smaller.

What the hell! What am I saying? Screw that!! It was absolutly perfect the way it was. Absolutly completely and 100 per cent wholesome and beautiful.

As much as I love the fact that Hermione loves Emerson and that Em calls her "mum" and whatever, I feel kinda bad because she just calls her mother Julia. There were certain parts throughtout the story where I was like, "if that ever happened to me, I'd come back and be like, 'who am i, you little dummy? Julia? no...mommy.'" But I guess to each family there own. I really do feel bad for Julia though. It must toally suck to have your child want to be someone else's. But...whatever

Well, what can I say? This is the best fanfic I have ever read, and I've read heaps. I love the story the characters, the way you portray the characters and I would reccommend it to anyone wanting to read a good fanfic. Thank-you for writing it, and I will lookout for anymore of your stories.

now you just need a few scenes of em talking back at harry and getting him pissed off, and it'll be absolutely perfectly realistic
great job, still got tears in my eyes. i'm in love with luke, he sounds exactly like my little sister thais. i've even made the same joke with her about having to give me some of her presents, and she actually agreed! which of course makes me feel rotten...

awwwww...i literally have tears in my eyes. this is so cute! it sounds exactly like what i want my family to be like in 20 years. the one beef i have is that 3-year-olds are highly unlikely to give up their "security animals", even for their new, beloved baby brothers to have "pleasant bunny dreams".
good quote at the end, btw.
