Malfoy is already being manipulative. By say "don't fall in love with me" that is what will happen. So Malfoy is already harboing feeling for the girl only afaid of what the rest of the Slytherin flock will say. I wonder what will happen when Harry and Ron find out. Hermione's reaction does seem a little off. She is the one that hit Malfoy. Of all three of them I would say she would hate him the most.
