So, where did it all begin?
It definitely wasn't with HP, and even tho' there were plenty of false starts, it certainly wasn't Lois & Clark either. Now I could cheat, and say it dates all the way back to... gasp... and I'm really showing my age here... Scarecrow and Mrs. King.
Yes... shocking I know! It was the first time I had ever written fanfic, back in the days before the internet and all the snazziness of home computers. I used an old Royal typewriter and the long and narrow backsides of sheets of computer printouts (you know, when the paper was drawn from a perforated stack and had little holes up and down both sides). I remember stapling my stories together and sharing them with a group of friends in junior high who were as goofy as me.
But no, not even there.
I'd have to admit, my first dabbles into fanfic happened even before that, when I'd lie in bed at night, desperately trying to fall asleep (once a night owl, always a night owl - regardless of school schedules). I would toss and turn, completely unable to sleep, so I'd begin making up my own stories... stories that went my way...
How could Teela not realize that Adam & He-Man were one in the same? She's totally smart enough to realize that!
Princess and Keith really belong together? Why aren't they together? It's not like if they started dating that she wouldn't be just as good flying that damn lion!
Why did Charlie's dad have to die? She could have totally torched Rainbird before he shot him (damn you Stephen King - I cried for a whole weekend over that! My stepdad thought I was crazy!)
So that's how I'd fall asleep... okay, in tonight's adventure Keith has some balls and asks Princess out... Charlie and her dad escape The Shop and torch everything and live happily ever after... etc., etc.
But I didn't write anything down until Scarecrow and Mrs. King... and after my 3 stories (which have long been lost to the annals of history), I haven't written anything until just a couple of weeks ago (beginning of Sep '04). Oh, I had a couple of doozies for L&C, I was a diehard FoLC for ages, but I guess it just took another boy in glasses to make me take up the keyboard and follow through...
